: JDM Engine swap stuff again

I am almost done putting a jdm engine in my 92 Sentra SE-R. I have tried to do a search, but nothing came up that could help me. My car starts up(barely), you have to give it gas to get it running, not to mention about three seconds after you let off the gas, the car tries to idle at 250ish rpm and then dies. I have the fuel lines set correctly. i do not have any egr stuff anymore. i have checked the grounds. Everything is grounded. Mass air flow is hooked up. Checked the ground and it is on there correctly. Have not checked the resistance of the mass air flow sensor ground. I have about 2 month old premium gasoline in my gas tank. I NEED HELP. Is there anything that any of you Nissan gods can figure out what i did wrong. I need this SOB ready!!! Thanks in advance for all your MANY responses.

2 things, either you have a sensor unconnected or your vacuum hoses aren't in the right configuration. When I did my JDM swap, I reused my US IM and followed the FSM. It started on the 2nd try and ran fine. Try checking the ECU for any error codes, then look over the vacuum hose routing.

Not 10 mins later of doing up this post, i found a spot for a vacuum hose to hook up to off the intake manifold. Now my car idles, but it is at like 3-4k. i dont know exactly what it is. how do u adjust the idle. I know there is an idle adjust screw somewhere on my car, but the haynes manual i am using, uses the ga16 as a reference point. also, i am trying to adjust the ignition timing, and it is at like -5 degrees. It is as low as it can go. i tried to bump it up, but it is like the knock sensor pushed it down there. I am getting worried. i dont want any detonation or anything. I have been without my car for too long. Also, i have a buddy that said i needed to swap out a pilot bushing into my new block seeing as it came off an automatic transaxle equipped vehicle. Is he right, or is my jdm engine fine as it is. Sorry for the long post, just kinda anal about my car and I am ready to get it back. Need some SR20 powa! Thanks!

As for your idle problem, you already found one disconnected vacuum line that was causing a problem, so before you mess with the idle manually, i'd make sure all of the other lined are in the proper place and are all connected:)

As for the pilot bushing/berring, i think i remember reading that the splines on the trans input shaft do not go far enough into the pilot bushing/berring that it would cause a clearance problem so you dont need to swap them. I am also doing a JDM swap right now. I installed my trans to my motor out of the car and i had no problem.

hope this helps

i had a couple of friends come over and we search high and low for any lines or connectors that needed to be connected. We couldn't find anything else other that the egr stuff i got rid of. So how's about that idle....Lil' help...

I have done the JDM SR20DE into my car last November and it runs great little bit of lifter tick at start up but other then that vroom vroom. The idle adjustment screw on the USDM manifold is on the manifold by the oil filter i assume the same with the JDM. It is a phllips head screw that goes directly into the top of the manifold. You should be able to see it right by the last intake runner. When i tryed to plug up my usdm egr on the stock manifold it cause my car to run like -ish and smoke ever so slightly so that was quickly fixed. Good luck. If you still can't find it i'll go look at my JDM manifold and let you know exacltey where it is. Ohh yeah and word to the wise make sure you swaped over all you sensors from your old motor. I forgot to do the temp sensor (one to the ecu and one to the gauge) And my fans didn't work right forever. Just a little heads up.

what all sensors do u need to replace? i have replaced the tps sensor, distibutor, ignition coil, and such. where is the temperature sensor?

Under the intake manifold and next to the oil filter. The bigger one is the ECU temperature sensor and the smaller one with the spade connector is the temperature gauge sensor.
