hey guys, got a quick question for anybody who has some experience on the subject......

i have a crack in my front windshield that is slowly spreading with vibrations or any tapping on the glass at all. im going to replace it after searching the junkyards for awhile.

what i want to know is, in case they dont have it for the nx2k, will one from any other b13 work aswell????

has anyone else had to replace their windshield??? it doesnt look too hard but appreciate any info you guys can give me.

It cost me less than 200 to have a new windshield installed. You might just want to go this route. If you pay cash it makes a big difference. They love cash sales.;)

hey, i just heard something from a friend....

is it true that your insurance company has to replace your cracked windshield free of charge?? that means i dont have to pay a deductible or anything... i was told this because he said it was a law in florida.

anyone in Florida know this to be true???

The law is the same in Mass. But you have the option of waiving the glass coverage. If you do that you have to pay for the windshield out of your own pocket.

Call your Insurance Company.

hey bro, with the 200 did they replace it with an aftermarket windshield or something??

how bad was your damage and what did they basically do exactly??

I think they are just about all aftermarket. No real difference except the price. Cracked from top to bottom.
The process is the same for all replacements. Just ask them if the price includes damaged molding. Make sure they include that in the price. And hit a few places for a price quote you might get it cheaper than 200.

I'm probably too late here, but I went through this with my windshield and here's the deal.

I called my insurance company and they told me that they would repair it for free, but not replace it. You can get a crack repaired if it is smaller than the size of a dollar bill.

When I got my windshield replaced, I went with LOF aftermarket glass. PPG and LOF are both OEM manufacturers of car window glass, so you should be good with either brand.

Do not use Safelite to replace your windshield. They make their own glass and I have heard from other people that it is of poor quality. On top of that, they tried to screw me when they were going to replace my windshield. If you search the SE-R mailing list archives, you should be able to find my story and the stories of other people about Safelite.

I hope this helps.

hey, thanx for the info man.....havent replaced it yet, but when i do im ***** be going with the blue tint one from ppg.

not really scared with safety too much..(well maybe a little), but it is real anoying how it affects my vission a bit. the crack line runs right through where i look straight ahead....kinda awkward, but im ***** wait a little longer before i shell out the 200. still need to replace that dam drivers side axle, clicking pretty bad now. then ill go for the new windshield.

All of the windows on the NX have a slight tint. It is either blue or amber depending on the color of your car. My NX is black and the windows are tinted amber, so that's the tint I had them use on the front windshield. The place that replaced mine brought the blue tint piece at first and they said it would look funny with the other windows being amber and the windshield being blue, so I had them come back with the amber tint. Bottom line is don't just blindly go with the blue tint. Get the tint that matches the rest of your windows.

well really its not ***** matter because im going to get dark ass tint because of how fuckin hot it is in south florida all the time. and the only piece of glass to not be black smoked will be the front windshield, so it wont look bad at all..........hopefully it'll look pretty good.

could you really see the bluish in the windshield when they brought it out? theres 3 choices the place told me there was and ive checked around, theres the clear (with no tint at all) the blue, and the bronze (amber).

i guess i have clear right now with the crack line in it, because if its anything else i sure cant tell.
