ok i really hate to make this post becuase i see there are alot of write ups on adjusting these PITAS but it seems that either the write ups are talking about venting it back into the motor, using a spring mod, or just adjusting it straight up, i cant get a dinfinitive answer on how to do this becuase there are different ways people are using it.

with my setting now i am getting the flutter, i dont think its compressor surge as i read if these arent 100% tuned it will give a flutter sound instead of the normal sound itd supposed to make, and if its doing that to adjust the valve to the tightest setting without getting compressor surge.

NOW, my question is, since i am just haviing it go to the atmopsphere can i just adjust the type s to the tightest setting without getting comprssor surge and be done with it? or is it manditory to have the springmod (which i read could not work correctly) or the hand pump set to xxin hg (which i thought was for venting) what one is it that i need to do?

You do not need any "spring mod" to vent in atmosphere. If you dont know if it is compressor surge or not, put your ear next to the air filter and rev it to see if you hear the fluddering noise. If so, you need to loosen the nut on the top. Repeat process until no more fludder.

p.s. Make sure your vacuum line is behind the throttle body.

right now its only running the tip nipple should i T off the main top line and runa line to the bottom nipple too? could that be why its not working corectly

The bottom nipple is for a boost source, it holds the valve closed when boosting. The top one is for vaccum to open the valve when u let off the gas.

so is the bottom one needed too or only the top?

user definable... for my type s i only ran the top vac source... it will work fine as long as it is hooked up past the TB to insure the most vac when you let of the pedal.

the tubing for the vacuum line is quite long should i shorten it up? alot of extra tubing

if you have excess, yes. cut it to the right lenght to reach the port chosen on the intake manifold.

if u had to say would the setting be tight or more loose for 8.5psi?

i pretty much had mine all the way loose to prevent low rpm compressor surge. Just do what post # 2 says and you'll find your way.

ok it was compressor surge and i got it to somewhat work, it goes off but it seems to be really touhy on going off as it is almost as loose as possible without it actually leaking at idle.

what are you using for your vacuum source? I am still not satisfied with mine either. I guess I have to live with it being a little soft as well.

its eithe the throttle body or on the manifold.

its not so much that its soft its a really high pitch. like CA CHINK CA CHINK

what if i removed the stiffer spring and left the smaller spring and tightened it?

I wouldn't take it apart.

i donno i sat there and adjusted it and it seems like too loose it starts to go off in accelleration.

too tight it compressor surges

medium it goes off semi but some surge.

adjusted from medium to more loose is back to where it goes off in accelleration.

WHY WHY GOD WHY lol.....

that is why you use the lower nipple to hold it closed at boost. Then u can adjust it as loose as possible and it will always stay closed.

where is a good place to connect the bottom hose (boost hose)
