I was trying to reduce 'clunking' with my AGX/GC's and in doing so might have stripped the thread on the shock shaft (rear shock on the AGX) for my '98 SE-R. Is there anything that can help repair it? The stock bolt is a waste, I went to Nissan to pick up a new one, and the guy at the counter said my shock shaft is also stripped as well (you can kind of see the grooves and feel them, but they are not definitely as good as new)... whats the best way to solve this dilemma???? My car is immobile as of now, help is very much appreciated, ASAP!

very very sad

You might be able to use a die and re-cut the threads, or you might not. Worth a shot though. "I think"

if that is a little pricey ( a good one might be) try and get a thread file... if the threads are just crossed etc... you see what im getting at. get one that has multiple size grooves and just gently file out the bad threads.

a machine shop i took it to SPECIFICALLY told me NOT to use a die set as they said it would end up cutting the whole shaft??? they said i need a chaser.... the threads aren't crossed, i'm not sure how to describe it, but you know how a thread has grooves and peaks, it seems the peaks are kind of flattend out, so theres a smaller groove, you can still see the sprial distinctly and i can stick my fingernail in it, although its not as deep as it should be i think.. is this repairable?
