Just cut your stock one and buy a custom shift knob. When your shifting, tap the clutch only about an inch or so in and throw that shifter back. That's not only a short shift, but a quick shift as well. ;)

b&g seems good. what is the distance, say, 3rd to 4th? i just installed a SCAT short shifter on my aircooled vw and i must say it is awesome, less then 2" between gears, i kidd you not!

what brand of shifter is recommended?

I have the B&M thats the best choice...
