I plan on going turbo sometime in the near future( maybe a few months) and I want to get either some S3 or S4's from the JWT Group buy in the For sale section. I really want to get the S4's because I am all motor right now and looking for the most hp gain as possible, but when I go turbo will I have to do extra tuning to run properly. Or should I just get the S3's and call it a day. I am bolting on a turbo kit for my DE. Right now I am running 2.5in exhaust, CAI, Hotshot Header and UR pullies.

Real good. My SE-R before DET ran a 14.5 with all the bolt ons and S4's... i KNOW i could have ran a 14.3... but the season ended and DET went in.
Top end is great with S4's.. all motor AND with boost.

So you have the S4s in your DET right now? Did you have to get adjustable cam gears to tune the DET with S4s or is the timing for the S4s stock. When I go turbo do I have to play with the cam timing to prevent overlap for the S4 cams.

I probably didn't HAVE to buy the JWT adj. cam gears, but it was advisable that I do so. So I did. They ain't gonna break the bank.. they're only like $150. Retarding the intake cam and advancing the exhaust cam dials out some of the overlap. I'm still not excatly sure about things like cam timing, but i'll take the advice of those who have done their research and apply it to my car.
Install the cam gears and the cams at the same time to save time and hassel.... unless you fuck up like i did and let the timing chain slip.

Could you give me a link to the information that you stated in this thread. Thanks!

Do a search in this forum for S4 jwt adjustable cams.... it's not that hard to find it.

Advance your exhaust cam 2.5 degrees and retard your intake cam 2.5 degrees.
I personally have my exhaust cam advanced 2.5 degrees and my intake straight up.

So it is beneficial to get the jwt adjustable cam gears and install them along with the S4s before I install the turbo kit. I should run the stock cam timing until I go turbo.
