Hey guys I was wondering if you can help me out before I flipout on the Local dealership. Once in a while I need a part that is dealer specific and I need it fast and am not willing to wait so I must go to the dealer. Well check this. They are little to no help. First off they need my VIN # and that is the only way they will attempt to find a part for me. Ok so I get the VIN # and they say this to me. That is a Canadian VIN# and we can't help you because your nissan was not sold here in America. What kinda S$%t is that? That is the end of story and I can't get a part from them. I have gone there more then once over the space of several months and it is usually a new parts guy but I always end up with the same result. This is so messed up. What do you guys think? Is this just how it is or is there something I can do or should be done? Thanks for any input.

Sounds like they are retards. WTF is a Canadian VIN? Are they saying your car was built in Canada? IIRC, the 17 character VIN is pretty uniform in North America.
If you are getting mostly engine/drivetrain/electrical parts, then just find a VIN for an SE-L that is closest to yours. If you are looking for option-specific parts, like maybe spoilers or I don't know, something that is a dealer-installed option then you'd be SOL.
Regardless, I say find a new dealer. There has to be another dealer nearby that doesn't NEED your VIN to get you parts.

I know some hondas were made in Canada but i have never heard of a dealer not being able to use it. I would just use Greg V next time. He actually knows what he is talking about.
The dealer here also needs the vin but i have never had an issue.

I use Greg V a lot actually for parts. Infact I just got my B15 transmision from him. I would go to another dealer but the closest other one is about 150 miles away. I live in Key West and if you have ever been to the keys you will understand. It sucks because it is a wait for everything you can think of. I need a new throw out bearing. UMMMM that will be 5 days sir. I mean come on. Well I am begining to think they are just retards but it is anoying because I love Nissan and these people make Nissan look stupid.
#1 - Tell the Parts Manager to get off his lazy ass and either train his monkeys better or stop hiring the people who "pull" when trying to open a "push" door.
#2 - Tell them that several thousand users on the SR20forum say they are complete idiots and buy your parts elsewhere.

most of the time you buy a part from nissan, they ask for your vin. that's normal
