: RWD SR20det flywheel bolt up to U12 SR20DET?

:biggthump While I have the tranny out for the 3rd time in a short time, I want to make sure that a JGY custom flywheel that I bought from ebay is the correct one for my U12 SR20DET and thats not the component that's making my clutch slip. So, even if I have the S13 SR20DET flywheel, will it bolt up? Even if it bolts up, does it have different thickness than a flywheel for the U12 SR20DET? If ayone has any dimensions of the flywheels that would be even better.

thanks!

Not sure if it helps but my s13 OS giken clutch and flywheel works on my gtir motor and drivetrain.

You CANNOT use GTIR or s13/s14 flywheels with FWD sr20 trannys.

Fwd trannys have 215mm clutches

and IIRC rwd/awd trannys have 240mm

Cltuch disk diameter has nothing to do with it, it is the splines on the shaft.

My os giken is a 225mm disk that came with a flywheel with a friction surface made for 225 made for s13 , but it works on my awd gtir tranny because of the spline count.

If you have a disk with the proper OD to match your specific flywheel, and the splines match your tranny shaft, you can use whatever.

Twin disks usually use samller diameter disks as well, the os uses 215 or 204mm IIRC for twin and triple etc.

let me make my answer more simple. You cannot use a rwd flywheel on a fwd motor.

Is that becasue of the splines on the clutch. Because my s13 OS flywheel works fine with my gtir motor and the clutch works because of the same pline drive in the awd tranny

I said a RWD wont work on a FWD

the rwd and awd cross over. awd/rwd WILL NOT work with fwd.

OK, we are on the same page then.

For the stuborn people that dont listen and want a better explanation

The gtir/ s13/14 flywheels are larger in size they will not fit under our smaller Fwd sr20 bellhousing. It has nothing to do with the spline of the clutch itself. Believe me i tried when i got my gtir motor and thought i could use the larger flywheel because it used a larger surface area and bigger clutch = better grip. But it wouldnt fit in my bell housing...

If your referring to me, I can use my s13 clutch, because it is going in the AWD tranny.

And I am sure the answer you gave about the OD of the flywheel will help the OP.

no i wasnt referring to you specifically but it was said like 4 times that the flywheels arent interchangeable and people kept asking questions...
