: JUN Flywheels and CEL's
Crono1321 07-23-2002, 11:10 AM I was reading the post about Fidanza's and CEL's, and I hate when people post different questions than the original in the same post, so here goes...will the JUN flywheel give you a CEL same as the fidanza? TIA.

brian 07-23-2002, 11:44 AM I have one in my 98 with no problems at all.
LudeSER13 07-23-2002, 02:04 PM i don't have one either. maybe there's something wrong with his emission crap or something.......
jacen99SE 07-23-2002, 02:27 PM The JUN will not give the check engine light because the crank angle sensor can get a reading off the JUN flywheel, it can't off the aluminum Fidanza
scmser 07-23-2002, 06:16 PM Get a clutchmasters. You will have an MIL light, but it won't hurt performance. The crank angle sensor is magnetic, aluminum won't register, the Jun flywheel will. Chromoly can't be resurfaced, clutchmasters flywheel has a friction plate, you can buy a new one in the future. Chromoly flywheels gained popularity because aluminum was rumored to warp, which it doesn't. If it does, why do the Realtime Type-R's run aluminum flywheels? They can afford chromoly flywheels, but they choose not to. Clutchmaster offers two flywheels, 11 lbs and 8lb 12oz. I have the 8LB one, love it.
Crono1321 07-23-2002, 06:42 PM Any drawbacks to having a lightened flywheel?

Too much first gear acceleration :D
(now maybe someone will answer your question without any smart-ass remarks... but I couldn't resist)

I hear it takes a little getting used to pulling away from a light. No big deal after the first day or so. I will know first hand very soon. Oh, yea, your wallet will be a lot lighter and you might hurt yourself putting it in like I did.
civicdragon 07-24-2002, 01:27 AM A slight decrease in gas milage, approx 10-20 miles per tank

 WTF? Since when and why?
civicdragon 07-24-2002, 03:24 AM its what ive heard from owners.. because you rev so fast you tend to be in higher rpm's which isnt good for gas milage

That would be purely due to the drivers input on the gas pedal.
Crono1321 07-25-2002, 12:15 AM I was going to say....that sounds like misinformation to me. That depends on wether or not you are flooring the gas all the time. I know that when I don't floor it to get everywhere, I increase my gas mileage up to 20miles longer before a fillup.

civicdragon 07-25-2002, 12:24 AM Well thats what were here for, to sort out the bullshit =)
Anyway I dont care much bout gas milage as my foot is always heavy...
I've heard from people with light flywheels that the milage goes down, some stay the same, but I guess it does depend on the driver
Crono1321 07-25-2002, 12:52 AM LoL man! I agree, my mileage is horrible because I'm always thinking "damn that tercel is trying to pass me!! OH HELL NO!" or "damn I gotta get to work in 5 minutes!!" And I end up filling up every 200 miles. WTF!!! 28mpg x 13gallon tank does NOT equal 200 miles!!!!! ;):)
