: Air noise coming from fpr??
jonwepa 01-18-2008, 12:39 PM I am having problems keeping my car running and was under the hood last night and heard a pretty loud psssssssssst sound coming from around my fuel rail. Upon further listening, I found that its coming from my nismo fpr. My question is is it suppose to be making a noise like that? especially that loud?
I noticed that when you unhook the vacuum hose the top part of the fpr just spins around pretty freely and doesn't seem to be sealed right.
I already ordered another one just to rule it out.
NismoSER 01-18-2008, 03:27 PM My Nismo FPR doesn't do that.
I'm gonna swing by tomorrow on my way to Willow Grove. I'll call ya later to confirm, get an addres, etc. etc.

I didn't think it was normal.
I was hoping to hear from you. I'll talk to you tomorrow.

Tried it but am still hearing air leaking out. Like I said I have a new one coming this week, so I hope it helps.
SHigSpeed 01-21-2008, 05:22 PM Try sealing the gap with some RTV/Silicone. I have a FPR that leaks there, and it seems to control WOT pressure fine, but it doesn't dial down the pressure under vac.

I'm having a hard time forming a picture in my head of what your describing....
i have a hissing noise come from the FPR seems to be coming from the top, but not really sure....can you help me out with the steps again...thanks
- would this leak cause a loud hissing noise under load?
xlyricistx 01-31-2008, 12:14 AM I did a little test......i wrapped the FPR with tape and then drove around the blco and it became pretty obvious the hissing sound is coming from the FPR...
SHigSpeed 01-31-2008, 12:27 AM The FPR is made up of two pieces crimped together like the top of a tin can. Use the visegrips to smash this crimp seal tight. Only thing is, I'd definitely try the RTV first.
Try this, take the top half (with the adjuster screw in it) and pull off the vacuum line. Then try to twist it. It's probably loose and will spin. This looseness allows your manifold vacuum to leak around the rim where the crimp is. This prevents the regulator from backing off your fuel pressure under no-load and idle conditions so you may be running rich at light throttle.
Fix this or you'll run crappy, get bad gas mileage, and foul plugs possibly.

xlyricistx 03-06-2008, 01:21 AM Would I apply the RTV where the crimp is?
*** had a spare FPR and found where to apply RTV....thanks
