What 12V power source does the blue wire go to on the MSD Digital 6+ ignition unit toi activate the 2 step rev limiter ?

I was thinking the clutch inhibitor switch, but somethin tells me thats not it.. the instructions werent very clear on where to hook it up to... i would guess it has to be a source that is activated in first gear when the clutch is in?? I dunno thats why Im asking the experts...?? ThaNX in advance!!!

Jose try this, hope its some help, ok the link wont work so here

Hey all just want to share some knowledge and put this in the archives.

I have an MSD Digital 6 ignition hooked up to the SE-R. It has a "two
step" rev limit controlled by a pontimeter. Basically whenever the trigger
wire sees 12v+ it activates the second rev limit.

This can be used to build boost at the line, and make your runs MUCH more
consistent as you can focus on the tree and not your tach.

There are two switches on the OBD-II cars on the clutch lever.

The first one on the top has green wires. Leave this one alone. There is
another switch down by the bottom that has a black and black with red
stripe wire. That is the starter kill switch for the clutch. (NOW YOU DO
THIS AT YOUR OWN RISK, I CAN TAKE NO RESPONSIBILITY FOR YOUR ACTIONS) What
you have to do it remove the plug and cut the two wires going into the
switch. The wires normally have 100millvolts going through them and are a
grounded circut so you can't just tap into the existing signal.

Connect the two wires that lead back into the harness to bypass the switch.
Now your car can be started without the clutch being in, so keep this in
mind.

You now have a switch with two empty leads. Find a 12V+ source and put it
to one lead and hook the MSD 2step trigger wire to the other wire.
Voila...clutch goes in, second rev limit activated.

I went a step further and hooked the trigger for the timing retard up
(works the same as the two step) to the switch as well. If I want now I
can dial 10* retard in whenever the switch is activated. This will help
dump fuel into the manifold and spool the turbo.

Another benefit is full throttle upshifts as you can just put the clutch to
the floor and shift through the gears. When the clutch goes in the car
will drop back to the set rev limit (5K in my case) Doesn't matter if you
granny shift you will still have full boost when you get into your next
gear.

Pretty trick eh? :-)

I was thinking it was the clutch inhibitor switch....but what exactly does that do to evry other time you use the clutch besides on a launch???

In other words, say I set the 2 step to 2000-2200 rpm...

does this mean that when i shift again into 2nd 3rd etc... my rpms will drop back to 2000-2200 in between shifts???

Im just a little confused about the whole thing.... I was wondering if there was any way to activate it when it was in 1st gear only.... perhaps a micro switch or something... but I am still not sure.....Maybe I will just call MSD...

But I figured some1 one here could help me out first ......Im just confused i guess...

ThaNX!!

Every time you use the clutch the 2nd rev limiter kicks in at what you set it at. Im am setting mine at 5000 so when i launch, i build boost, and also when i shift, i can hold the throttle down and bam i stay in boost.

The only question I have with hooking the 2-step up to the clutch switch is this: What happens during the time that the switch is not activated, but the clutch has not engaged?

There's some room to wiggle there, is what I'm saying. Would the rpms shoot up a bit? Inquring minds want to know.

FWIW, i plan on installing a simple momentary switch, with one wire to a 12v fuse and the other to the 2-step. This switch will go on my shifter or e-brake handle.

yeah i thought about doing what GP said... but that would just be something else to worry about or "concentrate" on when racing, driving, etc.......i guess the clutch inhibitor switch wouldn work as well as long as one made sure it is contacting well like GP said.. i guess it could cause some havok if you had a faulty contact.....

my other question was for JD .. setting it at 5k ... isnt that high on a launch???? or is that just about right??

anybody else have any insight on this??? its gettin good now..?:)
