: Tuned by Andreas....?
Black200sxSER 07-23-2002, 07:05 PM Ok, I'm sure that there are a few of us who would like to be able to drive over to his shop and have him "tune" our cars....
I want to know.what do you do to tune a car Andreas?
I mean..we can all throw it on a dyno....and tune timing.and maybe FP if we have installed a riser..
what are we talking about here?
I know Andreas builds some of the quickest SR20's.and just wanted to know what got them there...
ThomasSr20 07-23-2002, 10:03 PM Play with fuel pressure and TPS sensor and timming
LogicalRetard 07-23-2002, 10:38 PM When you learn how to tune and build engines, then come back and ask that question...;)
Black200sxSER 07-23-2002, 10:49 PM Please.that was pretty fu*ked up to say...I simply wanted to know what he was doing...I didnt ask for your opinion.
Im not a little 17 year old that had a shop do all his work..so I take offence to your comment..

that makes no sense:rolleyes:
LogicalRetard 07-23-2002, 11:06 PM Oh well, I guess jokes are taken pretty hard on this site...what a shame.

No it doesnt. If he knew everything there was to tuning an SR20, there wouldnt be a need for him to ask Andreas for advice.
Crono1321 07-23-2002, 11:35 PM Like I've said before...all the anger on this forum is...pissing me off. I've talked this over with several forum members and we all agree it seems as though people are getting more and more agitated just answering a simple post. Also, do you want this forum to turn into the nissanforums.com, where there is only one post every two days? NO? Then how about lay off the whole "search search" shiza. Lay off the sodomy and take a deep breath, you feel better, trust me.
And I take offense to that comment about 17-year olds, black200. I installed everything myself except for my new clutch, which I'm paying to have installed tomorrow afternoon. :)

Black200sxSER 07-23-2002, 11:48 PM I never said that I know everything there is to tuning an SR20..but c mon..
I asked a simple question.and I got the answer from Thomas....I really wanted to see if Andreas would chime in..I asked because there are alot of us that work on our own cars.and this is a SR20 commnity.and there is no reason why you cannot share information to make your car run stronger.
I have done alot, and seen even more done on SR20's.but you never know when someone else has something else.or something better..
LogicalRetard 07-24-2002, 12:14 AM I guess my jokes are just that....my jokes....thus only funny in my head...oh well. *sigh*
SmoothDaddyFig 07-24-2002, 12:17 AM Tuned by SDF
I give props to Andreas for doing his thing.
No doubt he has crazy knowledge on the SR20.
But I must say that I did a pretty damn good job tunning my own sh*t. I played with different intakes, plugs, exhausts and cats.
Im sure alot of this power comes from the JDM engine but you must admit its pretty impressive at 149hp/133torque.
My mods are Pacesetter header, 3'' straight drain-pipe intake, and custom 2.25 crushed exhaust.
Just do alot of dynoing and you'll be alright and FEAR NO HATCH!!!
Black200sxSER 07-24-2002, 12:19 AM nah.its cool.we can laugh at it as a joke....
Im just saying..if I knew everything there was to know,I wouldnt be here...:D :D :D
98sr20ve 07-24-2002, 07:19 AM I understand the timing and the FPR but the TPS is new to me as a tuning aid. I am going to need to pull out the trusty FSM and see if I can find the method to his madness on this one. Thanks for asking this question. I learned something new.
AaroNX 07-24-2002, 07:56 AM Actually adjusting the TPS is quite easy. There is a voltage reading coming from it. Between .45 and .55 at idle is where the voltage should be and at WOT it should read 4 volts. Some people advance it as it makes the fuel go a little more to the rich side. All you do to advance it is loosen the two screws that hold it and turn in.

Thanks. I do know what a TPS is. What I don't know is how to use it as a tuning aid on a dyno. It would seem that by choosing less volts at WOT that you could lean out the engine and more volts at WOT could richen it. Not going to try this on my car with out a lot more information. Anybody have any experiance with this? It would also seem that to much of a good thing could be very bad.
AaroNX 07-24-2002, 08:14 AM Yes you are very right. I have never done it with a dyno, just adjusted it to stock specs. I would suggest not tuning it on a dyno unless you have and a/f ratio meter of some kind. That way you will know if it is too lean or rich.
SE-Rican 07-24-2002, 08:53 AM By adjusting your TPS you can improve throttle respose. Andreas used a consult computer to adjust mine.
