I bought a 93 NX2000 and plan to give it to my daughter when she turns 16. A few weeks ago I noticed an intermitant squeal coming from the engine compartment. Took it to the shop and the mech says the cams are wearing on the rockers. He changed the oil and put in an additive to try and help bond to the cam and lubricate it. When I picked it up it sounded louder then before, mech said the oil/additive probably hasn't had a chance to "get around" yet and to drive it through the weekend. ANYHOO........I'm guessing I'll need to replace the cams eventually so I need the following advice.
1. Can I replace JUST the cams (mech reccommended replacing the entire head, all I hear in my head is cha-ching!$)
2. Where can I get stock cams?
I wouldn't mind adding a few performance improvements but I don't feel the need to go crazy since I bought the car for $1800 and just need something reliable for my daughter. I did search the threads but most of what I saw on cams was a little more advanced.
