Will an informed person please explain if there are performance gains to be had with iridium plugs. I don't care about gas mileage info, price per plug, etc.

Iridium plugs have stronger sparks and longer life.

The problem is that they have a "hot spot" on the tip, so even if the entire plug is like rated at a 7 or 8, or something cold like that, there is still one tiny spot which can cause detonation. It's well suited to naturally aspirated engines.

Oh. Stronger Spark generally = more power and better fuel efficiency. (I know you don't care about the second one)

I just put in some NGK iridium plugs into my 11:1 motor. It does *seem* to run alittle smoother then the NGK copper plugs I was running. Couldn't give you any dyno numbers or anything. :)

I guess this is the plug that is recommended for the SR20VE.
