Background: Went to the track last Friday with Viper Days. It was HOT with a capital "F". Car overheated a bit on session #1, so I babied it the rest of the day with no major problems, but I kept boiling over and spewing fluid. Suspected head gasket was compromised, so I asked how to do a compression check. After following the direction from you guys in this thread:http://www.sr20deforum.com/showthread.php?s=&threadid=22428 I did my test.

177,177,180,181

So, I'm thinking my head gasket is just fine??? And I'm also thinking thats REALLY good compression numbers for an engine that has seen 25 weekends at the track and untold number of autocross runs.

Comments???

Sounds mighty healthy to me.

Your engine is strong, Matt.

I think it was just a case of being too damn hot for racing at 7,500rpm. I drove from Nashville to WV that very same day with no AC. It was not a pleasant experience.

That is my conclusion. Engine is fine. For summer events, I'll pull the A/C fuse and run the fans for insurance.

The previous day, I drove back from the beach in much the same weather. Near 100 with the A/C on at 75 mph for 3 hours. Car ran brilliantly and I got 32 mpg :)

Sorry, I wasn't able to hook up with you guys, since I was in Nashville that weekend to auto-x. How were the Dyno results? I figured you guys might post them.

Running the heater will do a lot more good if you can stand it ;)
