: Did i fry my ECU or is it my MAF

My car is in limp mode and i have narrowed it down to either a bad maf or fried ecu. I need help figuring out witch one it is.

Set Up: b14 rt calum, 9.5:1, z32 maf, 370's@4bar

Problem: The voltage on the signal wire drops to 0 when it is hooked up to the oem harness to the computer, but when the wire is open (not hooked to the b14 harness) it has around .6 volts

What i have Checked:
The maf IS wired right
I have continuity from the maf to the ECU
maf has a good ground
Maf has 12 volts

When i was doing a little research i found some thing about measuring the signal voltage in AC....I tried this and had the same problem

I did have my Maf wired backwards, i have heard mixed things about damage to the ecu.

The maf signal voltage is just a little bit low, so that is why i was thinking that could be the problem.

What i need help with:
Looking for the ohm spec for the z32 maf
A tune for a b14 with a stock maf, and 370s (so i can rule out my maf)
Any way i can check the ecu to tell if it is fried
And anything anyone can find i looked over

Hi Chris,

I e-mailed you a B14 program when I shipped the ecu, did you receive that e-mail? I will resend.

Have you got a consult program working yet?

Can you call me? My number is 615-417-5740

Yea i got that program, but since then i have changed my injector, maf, set up. So the one you sent me wont work. Ill give you a call later this week, when i have a chance to triple check everything.

I too have the same issue.. My car wont rev past 3k until it goes into limp mode... Dunno if its calums ecu or the GTir MAF i have... My afc shows the MAF voltage... shows .5 engine off... about 1.2-1.5v at idle... and goes up from there when I rev it so it should be working... All I know is until it goes into limp mode I cannot drive the car... Give it gas.. Revs then just cuts out like it aint reading the air... I dunno what to do. I guess I might have to try rewiring in my old B14 stock MAF... turn down the boost a little bit see if it helps.. But ive always heard people having problems running the stock maf blow-thru.. so we'll see what happens. In limp mode, does the car still read the MAF? Cause going through consult the ecu shows the same MAF readings my AFC does.. :(

Did you solve your issue ? i am having similiar problems .. Car only revs to about 2500 - 3000rpm and wont idle without giving it gas. I was able to consult with datascan and got a MAF circuit error. I have replaced the MAF but still wont rev out .. Can u assist ?

i would try another maf, i had the same problem and i thought it wasnt my maf because i had recently replaced it, but indeed it was another bad maf so i found a good one and my car acted normal again.

Still bad maf error via consult on the second maf? You've either got two bad mafs, the maf is wired correctly, or you managed to connect +12V to ground on the maf harness. The third option results in the magic blue smoke leaving the ECU. You can check for this by opening the ECU lid and looking for burned traces on the ECU PCB.

SOLVED the Issue.. Here's a lesson for all .. Follow the consult results. After checking the MAF and ECU on a friends Car (they were fine) got an electrician to check continuity on the MAF wires. Ureka !!! ... It was a broken wire in the loom that caused the problem .. Thanks everyone for your assistance..
