: Suspension Setup for B14's
bensa 07-26-2002, 08:26 AM I actually drive a 99 Sentra SE Limited but essentially it's mechanically the same and has the same suspension as the 95-97 200 SX SE-R
I was thinking about lowering the car but was worried that my shocks might leak if i don't change the shocks as well.
Was thinking about getting H&R or Eibach's ... trying to do things on a budget and was wondering if you guys could give me some input!
Thanks.
Bensa. :D
Teal97 07-26-2002, 02:29 PM huh?
DubuRX 07-26-2002, 09:21 PM Here's a good tip:
Buy the suspension in the front for a B13(91-93 sentra SE-R)... it's the same, just the strut/shock is 1" shorter and gives you more suspension travel... also get the motivational rear mounts which increase the rear travel 1" also.
slipper 07-29-2002, 03:25 PM if you plan on getting struts and springs, i would definately recommend JIC, Tein, Motivational(if they are not closed yet), and other threaded body coilover struts. The spring and strut were designed to work together and the price is pretty reasonable. For example, say you decide on KYB AGX's and Ground controls, it cost approx $400 each for a total of $800. for a few more bills, you can get a race ready suspension from one of those companies i listed. Personally, i just dont like AGX's very much because they are very soft compared to other strut manufacturers from japan.
seRpwr 07-29-2002, 06:13 PM I use Koni shocks, progress lowering springs, front strut bar, rear strut bar, and front and rear sway bars... works great for me!
1999SEL2.0 03-23-2004, 07:38 AM hey.. im getting ready to buy GC for 170 shipped off someone (hardly used) and i know its a good deal.. but do i need them? i just want a little drop permanently.. nothing to adjust.. and something smooth.. not rough at all .. but when making that sharp curve onto an on ramp to the express way i can do 55 no prob.. lol.. what should i do guys.. ??? Travis
OnyxEros 03-23-2004, 09:55 AM First things first. using agx b13 fronts will NOT give you more suspension travel. It's a myth that has been disproved.
Second if you want struts and springs on a budget try to get in on the hypercoil deal. If you don't want to spend that much look at H&R. They offer a higher spring rate than eibach prokit or sportlines.
Happy hunting.

1999SEL2.0 03-23-2004, 10:11 AM .. because of all the other shit that is involved i dont know if i want to get this suspension thing goin.. .. because i dont know the cheepest, queitest, and simplest stuff to get from here... uhhg.. do i get b13 struts.. do i NEED the coil overs if i just want a smooth lower ride yet take corners at 50 MPH.. do i just get springs.. do i HAVE to have chamber correction? do i get AGX KYB's and use it with the GC coil overs.. and then have to get the mounts from Motivational (which i hear only last a year and then wear out the hole) or do i get Shigs mounts.. oMG!.uuuuhgg.. i think im just gonna do what NissanPerformanceMag says.. by their words and by the book.. Travis
nizzan4u2nv 03-26-2004, 05:48 AM ^^how many times are you gonna post the same thing?
1999SEL2.0 03-26-2004, 07:14 AM ^^how many times are you gonna post the same thing?
actually im not posting over and over .. im replying over and over in different threads..
second.. reason why is because STILL no one has really responded from ANY of the threads.. i knew this..
third.. im trying to get answers now before the Ground Controls are sold..
and from what i hear from Matt(b14 featured in NPM..) after emailing him to get answers.. from what he tells me.. and from what people have said to me in private messages.. i dont think i am gonna do anything as far as suspension upgrading yet..sorry if i seem annoying bro.. just trying to get answers.. Travis
akapaul 03-26-2004, 09:23 AM bensa - I would get TEINS but they are around $850-1000 depending on how lucky you get and if you can find a good price. If not then just do what I'm going to do. Pick up some H&R springs and KYB AGX struts. You don't need anything else (other than a MANDATORY alignment ;)). This setup will run you under $600 shipped + the price of the alignment at your local auto shop. Get the H&Rs from www.tirerack.com.
Travis - if you are getting ths GCs then go ahead and pick up a set of KYB AGXs (www.p-s-t.com is selling them for the best price out there).
nizzan4u2nv 03-26-2004, 12:10 PM Paul, you know this is from 2002 right?
akapaul 03-26-2004, 12:12 PM Paul, you know this is from 2002 right?
lol didn't realize that but at least after 2 years he got some advice :D
1999SEL2.0 03-26-2004, 01:38 PM Paul, you know this is from 2002 right?
dude... why is this an issue for you.. does it matter how old the post is.. im so freakin sick of people constantly bitching.. "dude.. search and find stuff on your own."
so i do this.. reply to something.. and now people get on my case (not realizing it) about it being an old thread.. geez.. can't do anything right can i.. lol..
Paul... yeah but i also have to have the bump stops and rear upper mount.. or else its gonna bang all over the place.. PLUS i have to MAKE SURE there will be no sqeeks or anything rubbin.. so itll require silicone and duct tape.. but those wont be too hard.. im just worried that even after doin those things.. that it will still not be what i want it to be..Travis
akapaul 03-26-2004, 01:44 PM SE-L owners should stop arguing http://midnightimpulse.com/forum/images/smiles/wabba.gif
anyways - it doesn't matter how old this thread is - it just shows that the person that brought it back from the dead did his homework.
travis - i would look at the teins then. i haven't done much suspension research but i'm pretty sure they include what you need. you can also purchase the pillow mounts for an additional $100? but dont quote me on that. good luck and let me know how it works out!

Damn calm down. I was just letting him know because he replied to bensa who hasnt even been on here since. I didnt even mention your name or anything, so what reason do you have to get all pissy? Who said I was bitchin? All I did was ask him a question. I consider Paul one of my close forum friends, and he knows that I dont go around doing stupid shit, so please, slow your role and reevaluate the situation. And like paul, ive already suggested TEINS for you and have try to help you with your situation and you choose to attack me? I dont get it.
1999SEL2.0 03-26-2004, 02:39 PM omg.. im sorry guys.. i dont want you to think im attacking you people. i thought you were attacking me! lol.. and the way it sounded.. i thought you were pokin fun at how i brought back this thread.. thats all..
and i appreciate the fact that you are all helping me with my questions.. im just wondering why everyone is suggesting coil overs and springs and bumpstops and mounts when you both suggested something else.. thats all.. im a little confused..
and i didnt even pay attention to the fact that we are ALL se-l owners lol.. cool.. and im not haten on anyone guys .. i love ya ! lol.. anyways.. are you both with www.b14nissan.org? Travis
nizzan4u2nv 03-26-2004, 02:50 PM TEIN basics are pretty much the same thing, but more for street duties, and its already built I think, just replacements of the stock setup, whereas what I have has to be built using stock parts. If I had to do it again id get some TEIN SS coilovers. It all depends on what you plan on doing and spending. Its ok, the internet can get to you sometimes, its hard to understand what people are really trying to say.
viprdude 03-31-2004, 08:15 PM why not tein basics and save those hundreds of dollars? if its for street, i see no use whatsoever for ss unless u do track.
SerStillen 03-31-2004, 09:15 PM Question: Dont the tein basics have like a shorter strut by 1 inch?
ALso does anyone have any experiences with Tein Basics...ride, cornering and such?
