: Fun with the Eastwood fender roller

I finally decided to start tackling the fender rolling today. I borrowed the Eastwood roller from a friend and used a Walmart heatgun (hair dryer) to try and keep the paint temps above 100F.

I probably spent more time setting up the Eastwood roller than actually rolling the fenders.

After a couple of passes to get the inner lip to start to roll.

After 2 adjustment with the roller and several more passes. I'm mostly done here, I did one more adjustment and used the roller to basically 'pull' the fender some.

here is a before shot showing how much I needed to go...

...and the after shot, it looks like the tire will tuck in just fine. I still need to go back with the roller to fix one spot.

nice work!

it's nice to see someone using proper tools for this job (ie not hammer/baseball bat!)

ive watched your build for awhile, and its looking very nice!

Thanks, I was lucky enough to have a friend with the right tool... it would have sucked having to buy or rent one just for a few days of work.

I'll be using a hammer and various other tools to do the fronts though. I've read enough times that the fender roller doesn't do that good of a job on the front fenders.

Thanks. As soon as it starts getting warmer up here I'll have alot more happening. Currently the wife likes the outback in the garage at night :(

mine turned out about the same way, i didnt use a haridryer though, i just didnt care since the body was beyond good looking anyways.

the fender roller let me find alot of bondo on the RH rear quater pael though, right arund the wheel well, only because it started cracking off, so i kept going since it was too late by that point anyways.

The bondo was not cooperating last night. I used a propane heater to assist in warming more of the body work up, but I couldn't work out the drivers side much more before I started to see some cracking in the paint. Doesn't matter, I got enough clearance for 275 RA-1's and the body work still looks good... I'm happy for now :)

Drivers side done as much as I can get it. You can kind of see where the bondo is.

Finally got around to working on the fronts. As I've read before, the Eastwood roller is not the best for the fronts, as I tried to pull the fenders I could just seen the fender flexing outward. bean bag and a body hammer might be used next if Its needed.... for now I think I'm done with beating on my fenders.

Before.
