: I'm Now Hittin' the Juice
Jason92Classic 07-26-2002, 09:10 AM Hey ya'll,
I put in my .047 jet and hit the juice this morning... boy that is NICE! I'm putting in the .052 tonight!
Effects:
I've noticed that the boost is slightly uneven. I checked the bottle, and, sure enough, it's only at 800psi. I'm guessing that that is a factor. Any other factors that affect uneven boost?
Possible Cause:
-Bottle Pressure (as stated above)
-Plug gap? They're at .020-something...
-Cams definitely! Holy cow, do they come on strong with nitrous!
-Fan nozzle placement. Mine is about 3 inches back from the throttle body mounted into the middle of the first section of the PRI CAI. I thought that would be a wise place to put it to help better atomize the nitrous. I'm sure that it is pointing directly at the TB (I have it marked for alignment). It still could be a factor.
Lemme know what you guys think.
Thanks,
SE-Rican 07-26-2002, 02:24 PM Bottle pressure is way to low. Put it up at about 950 to 1000 don't go much higher than that.
Jason92Classic 07-26-2002, 06:53 PM How do I increase the flank, er, uh, pressure? I'm guessing blanket/warmer *** it did get pretty cold. In fact I also noticed that:
-Spraying at first is great but if you keep on it and the bottle gets cold, your pressure suffers big time.
-On my way to work (20 miles) I sprayed quite a bit and noticed that the pressure got down to around 650! Yikes!
-I need to remount the bottle. Somewhere I read where you're supposed to mount the valve down 15 degrees (with the brackets) when in fact it is supposed to be up 15 degrees. Furthermore, the bottle isn't linear with acceleration and I've read that that is ideal.
Any more input??

What Rob said.
The best money you can spend with nitrous is for a bottle warmer and a purge solenoid. Get the good NOS-brand warmer with a thermostat.
Nitrous is all about bottle pressure. And bottle pressure is all about bottle temperature.
The first time you hit the nitrous with the bottle at 950-1050psi, you'll pee your pants. Promise. :D
ThomasSr20 07-27-2002, 01:57 AM My friend with the Nx2000 is using a 55 or 57 jet which is like a 130 shot with the JWT 100shot program and a Nismo Fuel pressure regulator.
He didn't have a fuel pump before he upgrade from a 52 jet to 57jet. You should be very very save now since u have Walbro 255 fuel pump, my friend is maxing the shit out of the Fuel pump.
If u are planning to use a 55 or 57 jet, use some race fuel.
Next upgrade for u is MSD ignition
Thrillseeker197 07-28-2002, 09:45 AM You think I would need a heater down here in Florida? Got the blanket just to keep it "steady" but didnt think I would need a heater.

SERprise In WV 07-28-2002, 12:40 PM Unless you can get your bottle up to 85-90 degrees at all hours of the day, then a heater is mandatory. Even on hot days (Florida), it's still tough to get the bottle THAT warm.
The NOS brand heater has a thermostat which touches the bottom side of the bottle, so it knows when to shut off. If you don't use a thermostat------------->BOOM<-------------will be the sound you hear when the temp gets too high and the pop-off valve dumps all the nitrous in your trunk. This is also a great reason to NOT leave your bottle in the trunk on 90+ degree days for hours on end.
Even in Florida, a bottle warmer will do wonders, IMHO.
Jason--
As for mounting the bottle.... you should put it going north-south in your car, with the valve end pointing towards the front of the car. That way, when you launch/accelerate, the siphon tube in the bottom of the tank can still get nitrous easily.
jon3k 07-29-2002, 10:03 AM Does the NOS warmer monitor actual bottle pressure?
no, but the Nitrous express bottle heater does, it turns on and off based on bottle pressure.a sender is put into the vavle kinda liek the guage, and it turns on and off at free will. i think thats the best system out there.
Jason92Classic 07-29-2002, 05:00 PM wow, okay, now I know where to go... man, the other day, it was cool out, and f---! my bottle only had 550 pounds of pressure! I couldn't get anything hardly!
Greg, you're right, the first hit when it's at 950 is pretty awesome, but I've noticed that it doesn't last long at all with a naked bottle... that sucker gets cold quickly thus losing tons of pressure.
So I should invest in a purge solenoid, huh? I know what they do but they don't seem like much... if you guys recommend it, then I'll do it. I trust the pros.
Good call on the race gas, Thomas. How will I benefit from the MSD ignition?
Thrillseeker197 07-29-2002, 06:27 PM I was talking to GP about the ignition myself. Ex) MSD Digital 6....built in timing retard, better spark, 2 step rev-limit. Window switches(depends on how your nitrous is setup i suppose).....Right after my juice goes in the MSD goes next.
Kyle
SERprise In WV 07-29-2002, 09:38 PM Purge solenoid -- DEFINITELY. Nothing like fresh juice at the solenoid, at about 950-1050psi, just waiting to rock and roll. Plus, it looks cool as hell.
MSD Digital 6: For your JWT setup, the ignition retard is taken care of by the ecu, so that's worthless. However, the 2-step launch rpm control might be of some use to you at the track. Plus, you'll get the more powerful spark which will completely eliminate any ignition-related voodoo later on.
Kyle--
The MSD D6 does not have a window switch built in to it. It is an add-on, IIRC. :)

Thrillseeker197 07-29-2002, 10:16 PM I didn't mean to say it was built in. My error in wording. :)
P.S.
Anyone wanna donate a bottle heater for me??? heh
Kyle
yes get a purge kit, the best most powerful nitrous is in the bottle not in the lines, so you clear the lines then use the fresh nitrous into the motor. instead of having a delay when hitting the button it hits hard the first time. and yes a bottle heater is a must, NX liek i said is the best one out right now. and also the NX purge kit si nice, i like the ZEX nozzle that they have 30ft high, can't beat that. i have the NX direct port kit on the way with bottle heater and purge (GEN X II) kit, and also a ZEX purge line to get that huge snow maker effect.

i've got an nx warmer hooked up right now :D
i was just wondering if the NOS worked the same way. how does the NOS warmer know when to turn itself off?

The NOS brand heater is controlled by a thermostat that is affixed to the bottom side of the bottle. It *must* touch the bottle to work.

Thrillseeker197 07-30-2002, 05:27 PM So for the 50 bucks difference you think the NX is well worth it??

I do. NOS heats it to a temperature. If you have less nitrous in the bottle, the pressure will be lower. The NX opener just keeps heating till you have the correct pressure. Definatly worth it.

i agree it is definity worth it, i would much rather have my ehater based on pressure then on heat. i mean the NOS one is good and all, but the NX one is WAY better.
