guys/gals

how do you safety wire rotors? i've been looking at websites and i'm not sure which is the correct way.

i know i'll be needing some Loctites and safet wires. any recommendation on how thick the wire should be?

also, can i link all bolts up with 1 wire and twist them up together at the end? or should i do it 2 bolts at a time?

here's a website that uses ONE wire and loop through all the bolts:

here's a site that only do 2 bolts at a time:

thanks

Just use mechanics wire. I got some at Advance Auto or something. It just needs to fit thru the holes. Bigger would be harder not easier and I am sure it wouldn't be much better. I tried to safty wire my brakes but most the bolts only had one hole exposed so I couldn't get the wire thru the holes properly. I am thinking of taking mine to a local airport (not the big one) and asking one of the mechanics to do it for me. Also a good motercycle shop might be able to help. Good luck.

I safety wire crap all day (jet engine mechanic), you want to use .032 wire and do two bolts at a time. If you do them all together and break it on the last one you would have to start all over. It’s more work but less of a headache. The best thing you can do is to buy a pair of safety wire pliers, they will come in handy in whatever you are doing. My car has lots of safeties on it and so does my house. I'm pretty sure you can get them through snap-on. If you only have one hole exposed just make sure the wire is pulling the bolt in a tightening direction and you will be ok. Hope I helped
