I put on a cheap set of honda steelies on my rears (B14) and when I pulled them off, my wheel end cap thingie fell off, here's... I have a jingling sound coming from my rear when I drive, and I think its because these things aren't seated properly or what? How do you put them back, what purpose do they serve (can I just remove them completely?) Here are pics of what I'm talking bout with the thing on and with it removed... I noticed some grease on where u put it on, do I just need to pack on more grease, or what? THANKS!

If they are the cheapy honda's I had on my parts car they DONT fit right... remove them...
The center hole of the honda rim is toooooo small and thats what hit and caused that thing to pop off...

yeah i figured that out, it was causing a lot of clunking, and also my brakes to scrape, but anyways i have gotten rid of them now, so what is the purpose of that thingie though? is it safe to drive without them??? i *THINK* that it is causing me noise, but i don't even want to road test it without them unless i know it is not causing any harm... now when i take off my stock b14 wheels, the thing falls off, each time, so i think something is definitely not seated as good as it used to be.... where in the past i didn't even know that thing was removable :P
more help needed guys :)

That is a dust cap that keeps dust out of the wheel bearing. You can just take a rubber mallet and pound it back on.

I tried that, but it doesn't really 'stick in' -- pounding and just placing it there doesn't really make a huge difference?? did i accidentally screw mine up, should i get new ones, or is there another solution?? Am i suppose to pack it up with grease (if so what kind) as i noticed it was real greasy

Those are a dust seal for the rear wheel bearing. Leave them off too long and you'll end up replacing the bearings. I once made the mustake of leaving both off for a few weeks, then put them back on. Both rear bearings went out within a week of each other.

the question still in lies, how do i put it back in???!?!?!?! Or is there another dust prevention thing I can implement? My old ones don't seem to wanna stay, and they are causing a almost bell like sound which drives me crazy

So go buy a new one!
You probably ended up rolling it to a slightly smaller diameter so that it isn't a press fit anymore.
It should slide in and seat with some decent force. (more than your hand could do).
