Hey guys,
I've just set my timing for the 3rd time tonight. At first, I did everything up to the point of dissconnecting the TPS, I did that, then the RPMs stayed at 1750 rpms...so I turned the car off and dissconnected the AAC valve(because I turned it all the way down but it wouldnt go past 1200 rpm), then I started it back up, it died, so I started it again, held the RPMS at 800 for a few seconds, then it held stedy. So I set the timing to 18-19 degree's(It was set at 22 degrees! Might explain why my car was running rich). Drove it home, noticed that it felt like I'd lost some power. so I came back to the shop, went through the whole proceedure again, this time the rpms went down to 1200 after I disconnected the TPS, so I put it in 1st gear and held on the brakes and put it under slight load and the rpms went to 800 and stayed there. sO I set the timing to 19, tightend the bolts, checked it one last time and it was at 15 again. So I loosened it up, set it at 19 again and it seems to work okay. I'm going to drive it home and see if it feels any better, but I prolly wont be able to tell tonight 'cause its raining outside. ANYWAY
My real question is, when I had it in timing mode after I dissconnected the TPS, the light would dance around a lot , so I just went off the highest reading it would give. Could this be the distributor thats giving me problems? My car is missing out someitmes too, but I've replaced the cap, rotor, plugs and wires. I'm going to test my fuel pressure out of the regualtor this week when I find the correct gauge. TIA for any help guys!
