: Euro-Rallycrossing my B13
blownb310 03-03-2008, 10:53 PM Just got back from a very rare Euro-Rallycross event in Dundee, NY. The Central New York Ice Racing Association did not have enough ice to race this year. So they put their heads together and came up with a new way to get out and have some fun with their cars, European-style Rallycross. It was held at Black Rock Speedway in Dundee, NY. This was the course they skillfully laid out in the pit area there. http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v452/blownb310/blackrock1_0001.jpg
So......how was the first ever CNYIRA winter Euro-Rallycross?
Outstanding!

What's it take to play? A roll hoop and a helmet?
blownb310 03-03-2008, 11:28 PM I had just a four point, harness, and a helmet.
What was I thinking with my window down? I had mud in my window tracks.

Bob LegereThanks Bob,
The only tire rule was no studs. There was no decible limit. This was at a race track so noise was not an issue at this location. The angle must have been just right because the jump was safe for everyone's non rally prepped cars. Some of the cars were caged and gutted ice racing cars like this FWD Escort.

blownb310 03-05-2008, 07:27 AM Hello Gus,
I will be co-driving for Bruce Turk again this year in his '61 Saab course opening car. And what a priviledge it is to be able to do so. :)
I plan to be running my Datsun B210 in the Vintage Hershey Hillclimb the weekend of May 3rd. What weekend is Rally Tennessee?
The only pics I have of your car I posted in this forum a while back. I hope to get some of the new car though!

The only tire rule was no studs.
So were most people running rally tires or snows?
There was no decible limit. This was at a race track so noise was not an issue at this location.
Coolness...

Very sweet! Not too many jumps ice-racing on frozen lakes.
Nuts huh? :D
Nuckin' futs!

Rally Tennessee is in late May.

blownb310 03-05-2008, 06:35 PM So were most people running rally tires or snows?
No one was running rally tires. Everyone used winter tires. Rally tires would have worked later in the event when snow cover became mud, but early on they would have been the wrong choice for sure. The pics were all taken later in the event so the snow racing was not represented well in the pictures.

llaprad1 03-11-2008, 05:47 PM That looks mega-awesome. We need more rugged Rally / Rallycross B13s on this board (and/or the other one).
I will see you guys here in TN in May!
