is there any HP gain to upgrading the ECU?

well, there's an increased redline, and no top speed cut, along with adjusted fuel curves to say the least, what more could you ask for from a little metal box:D

what does the redline get bumped up to?

8-10 hp I believe, not to mention it just makes the car a whole lot quicker to react. Also lets you have cams with a even idle, and all kinds of fun progs for diff mods.

I dunno about 8-10, but I'll say 5-6 isn't out of the question. Just the hp gain is not worth the 6 bills. All the other stuff makes it worth it.

I knew of all the other things it was good for i just wasnt sure if it had any pure HP gain. Now i just need to save up alotta money. heh

So now does anyone know the difference in redline?

7800????

Doesn't really matter. Power is dropping off up there, even with the usual bolt ons. Need cams in order to see any nice gains way up there.

you are right Matt, 7800RPM and if i remember on my dyno sheet hp/tq start
dropping before that w/ S3's and timing set at 15 w/ the standard JWT ECU

Based on my personal experience, I'd say JWT ECU is more of a refinement of your mods than a sigificant source of HP. Sort of like a great tune-up.

It seems to do something right. :)

Its been documented to be a definate improvement in the 1/4 by about .25 sec.

IIRC, JWT will add about 1-2hp. With S3-S4 cams it will add 3-4hp. Though I cant remember if that was peak hp or not. Throttle response is improved due to adjusting the timimg map. You can set your redline up to 8000rpms. If you need a higher redline they can do it but have to use a different ecu. IIRC it is a 32-bit version. Though I personally am happy with my G20 ecu, it gave me a higher redline(7500) and no speed limiter. I saved the $500 bucks and spent it on S4's.

I have S4's now with a g20 ecu.
Idle is choppy, and very annoying.
I havnt redlined it in gear because I'm also breaking in my clutch.
I am looking forward to the JWT ecu, because it smoothens the idle and also I hear gives better low end response with these cams

Before I went Turbo..with CAI, Header, Exhaust the car ran pretty much low 15's ( ie 15.4 to 15.2 ) Even though I didn't get to run the car with the ECU at the track. ( Had the NA program for only about a month before I went turbo ) Im sure the car was capable of at least high 14's. At about 3 grand I noticed a nice bump in acceleration all the way up to the 7,800 rev limit. I know hp/tq start to fall off at that high of a rpm but when shifting into my next gear I would land pretty much in the next gears sweet spot. As far as overall horsepower gain...your guess is as good as mine ( Haven't seen a dyno sheet ) But its not always about peak HP made anyway. The worth of a mod shouldn't be judged by its peak HP but how much of a gain you get throughout the powerband.

I've had a JWT ecu in my car for a week. I haven't made it to the strip yet. But I will friday.
On the street I can tell a difference, more top end, and better throttle response.
I did autocross with it on Sunday, but that was my first time, so I have no useful info on that subject. I did get to test out the new redline though, I had a lot of wheel spin.

My idle is fine with the g20 ecu. It not choppy at all. The car has never stalled once with the cams.

wheres your idle set at?
Mine is around 900, and i want it higher, but its hard to get to the stripped idle screw that doesnt turn.
