: Help me please
SpecVricer 07-30-2002, 08:27 AM Hello all,
New to the board here, have had my 2002 ser spec v since feb. and love it. The problem is that i love doing mods, and but this is a prob with my new car because i don't want to screw the warranty.
I have decided to buy a car as a project car, and have two options,
1.older se-r w/sr20
2.puslar nx2000
What I would like to do is swap in a GTI-R engine, which car would be better for that? What kind of work would this entail, what about the tranny, the gti-r is awd right?
Any Help would be appreciated.
Thanks!!

NismoPC 07-30-2002, 09:19 AM Well, you actually listed three options:
1. Classic SE-R
('91-'94 SR20DE)
2. Pulsar NX ('83-'90 w/E16, E15ET,E16, E16S, E16l, CA16DE,CA18DE, or GA16l)
3. NX2000
('91-'93 SR20DE)
If you want to do a DET swap, the best bet would be a SE-R or NX2000 and a BBDET. It is pretty much a drop in replacement with a JWT ECU.

se-r sam 07-30-2002, 11:05 AM Didn't they also say newbies can't post for 2 weeks, to cut down on repeat threads?
Slartibartfast 07-30-2002, 11:16 AM NismoPC, SpecVRicer mentioned two options. To the rest of the world, NX1600 and NX2000 are known as Pulsars. The USDM B12 Pulsaryou mentioned is not what was meant at all.
US market != world market. We Yanks tend to forget that.

Well, let's analyze this here a bit. Since he owns a 2002 Sentra SE-R Spec-V, and the Spec-V is only offered in the US market, not world market, then I suspect he lives in the US. And since he is looking for a SR20DE powered vehicle to do a GTi-R swap, the US market Pulsar never had a SR20DE. Therefore, he would not be referring to a Pulsar NX2000, because he can not buy a Pulsar NX2000 in the US unless he imports it and pays the import taxes as well as fed reg fees to mod it for the US soil. So with that said, he listed 3 options on two lines as two options.
And no I don't tend to forget the variances between the US market and the Australian market, and Japanese market, and rest of the world market.
I will assume that he was not aware that the Pulsar naming was dropped in '91 (in the US market of course) and was formally named as NX2000 or NX1600 depending on the engine. But I was attempting to list the differences for him.
By the way, NO the NX2000 and NX1600 is NOT called a Pulsar in the rest of the world. The Pulsar is considered to be more similiar in looks and build to the P10 G20 and/or B13 Sentra's. the NX2000 is usually called a NX-R in Australia and a from what I recall is not even offered in Japan. Only the 100NX and 180NX was offered. This is from memory, so I could be wrong on that. But it is not called a Pulsar.
NismoPC 07-30-2002, 12:23 PM More info:
The most recent Pulsar released in Australia (which I believe is the N16) takes on similiar looks to the Japanese market P12 Primera and is also offered in Europe as the Almera.
The earlier Pulsar was a sporty notchback version of the B12 Sentra.
Lot's more where that came from. And more details if needed!
