What would everyone recomend for plug wires, besides Nology? I am thinking of doing NGK. Nothing insane, just sticking pretty simple ya know?......;)

Stock with stock plugs.

I learned my lesson awhile back.

I didn't know how good the stock units were until I replaced them with a "premium" brand. They worked fine for a few months. Afterwards they began to literally fall apart. I got tired of the lazy engine response and having to use a wire hanger to fish out parts of the plug wires from the spark plug wells.

Stock plug wires, cap and rotor are best.

Accel Thundersport wires work very well on my SE-R. I used them in my V8 days, and the quality is top-notch. They've been making wires for over 30 years now.

I found these for 89.00 is that a good price. How do you conclude that they are better then the stock wires? I have the VE in my car now. I have the MSD 6AL hooked up (partially on your recommendation) and need some new wires. I am thinking of the stock Nissan or magnacor or accel (again on your recommendation). ;) Also, What color is fastest.

i have used the blue NGK wires with the oem main coil wire since 1998 and my dyno charts show a very smooth curve, i think i paid $27 for these back then.

Steve--

I never concluded that the Accel wires were better than stock wires. Just that they work very well on my car, despite some folks' attempts to shoot them down because all they hear is, "Stock wires are the bestest ever!"

You cannot go wrong with Nissan factory wires, if all else fails.

The Accels are quality wires, and have worked well for me. YMMV.
Yellow is the fastest color. You should know that by now. :p

$89 is about right, IIRC. I bought mine through Summit, FWIW.

My little bro has a 91 se-r and got the nologys. He's getting rid of them on e-bay to order NGKs with me. Summit sells em fer 46 bucks..... not to bad. Nissan wires are about 60. Oh yeah, nology sent me an e-mail telling me to call them for the warranty or something. hmmmmmm. still don't want em':p

I have had no problems with stock wires or the NGK blue wires. They have both worked great, but I feel the blue of the NGK's has a calming effect on my engine that the stock black color doesn't.

Buy them for under $50 from a mail order dealer that gives discounts. There are plenty of Nissan dealers selling parts at 25% off list.

You know I saw this Machine at a local performance shop that measured resistance per foot in wires and it had all the brands on the display where you could actually see what kind of resistance each wire had, of the wires that they had on display (NGK, Accell, taylor,MSD,magnecor, and I cant think of the others but not NOLOGY) the MSD wires had signifigantly less resistance per foot than the other wires about 47 ohms per foot I believe while some of the other wires where reading like close to 200. And as far as accell wires we put them on my friends old 91 sentra SE-R and they worked great. so just my 2 cents. I think I will get MSD, and they match my cars red exterior.

Just stay with the stock plugs and wires they work great, better than most more expensive aftermarket wires IMHO.

To my knowledge MSD does not make wires for our cars.

NGK or stock. those are you best bet. I had the Nology "hotwires" with those silverstone plugs, i didnt care for them....

i don't think MSD makes wires for the sr20. their website doesn't list ANY nissans. if you have a few minutes read this (taken from the Magnecor website):

I have seen an MSD demonstration stand which compares all the well known "performance" wires — it shows Magnecor KV85 wire’s resistance is higher than any other brand of wire on the stand !

The MSD demonstration stand (which MSD places in many speed shops and performance parts retailers) is designed to demonstrate that a MSD wire has a lower resistance than any other brand "performance wire." The issue of low resistance spiral wires is addressed in our document "The Truth About Ignition Wire Conductors." (http://www.magnecor.com/magnecor1/truth.htm) For more information about our competitors promoting features of their wires that are of no use to anyone but themselves, see our document "A Brief Overview of the Performance Aftermarket Ignition Wire Industry in the USA" (http://www.magnecor.com/magnecor1/overview.htm)

We are aware of the MSD demonstration stand, and we certainly appreciate the free promotion MSD gives to our product. We have sold many wire sets to knowledgeable technicians and race and performance street vehicle owners who were previously unaware that ignition wire capable of providing adequate suppression for race and modified engines was available — until they saw the MSD demonstration stand!

i read the info in the first link, truth about ig. wire conductors, it's extremely informative. i'm no expert, but it's a lot of technical info that basically supports why magnecors are better for race engines. i have seen for myself nology wires make hp on a classic. while i don't think anyone should look to our ignition system for added power, i think it's prudent to have wires which have adequate EMI suppression. i'm not saying the OEM wires are crappy, we all know they work well, but if Magnecors provide a lil' extra somethin', then it's worth it to me.
but if you're only looking to color coordinate your engine, just get the hose techniques kit.

I didn't think they did either, but my friend has one for his teg and they work great. I saw this post and I thought maybe they do after all!

Yea the owner of the shop I was talking to said they did make them for my car 95 200sx SE-R, but he also said that without actually checking, he just said yea we got em $95. So I stand corrected sorry guys.

And also I just went to the MSD webpage, and looked at the application list and it doesnt have any hondas on there application list and the owner of the shop said that is the brand of wires eh uses on there honda race car. If you go to the website www.MSDignition.com there is a picture of the wire ends someone take a look at them and see if you see the nissan wire ends. Because I remember when my brother put some accell wires on his 91 SE-R, he bought the wires at kragen and they listed the wires for hondas but they fit perfect and he never had a problem. So is there only a few plug wire ends? I am probably way off but hey maybe not.

Steve "far from computer savy" Williams

PS-someone please tell me how to have picture on a reply i tried to put the picture of the wire ends but couldnt figure it out. Thanks
