Also installed Prothane motor mounts. Next weekend will be the OE intake spacer and GC camber plates. And basic stuff like rotors, pads, oil change and such.

Looks good! How's the idle?

First minute my response would have been "What idle!" but after that it settled down quite steady. I can't wait until the snow melts!

After our Good Friday service at Church I installed a 'refreshed' K&N filter on my CAI, changed the oil and filter, then installed new rotors and XP10 brake pads. Tomorrow will work on installing the Outlaw Engineering intake spacers. Soon I'm going to start praying for the snow to melt, because I'm eagerly waiting to see how it performs.:fingersx:

Me too! I must have a few laps in this thing at Mosport.

Today I went over 'The Dinomobile II', did an oil change, adjusted the rear brakes and cleaned it up a bit. It's a good day for GA16s :biggthump

Got the intake manifold apart - what a job! Waiting for the stock lower intake gasket to arrive. The original one needs to be used in conjunction with the OE spacer - and the one that came off is too close to the edge to put back on. Nissan has them, but I couldn't get some of the water hoses or any of the air hoses that are located in that area.

Also, I'm looking for about a 5 mm wheel spacer for my rear wheels. I've run 205's with no problem but my Avon 'tyres' at 205 are just too wide. Does anyone have a set they'd like to part with? PrettyWhite may have a buy going on so I'll keep an eye on that. Then I'm concerned that'll be too wide for the outside -- only time will tell!

what cams are those? BTW the spacers work really well, my butt dyno proves it lol

JWT S1 cams! Glad to hear that you had good experience with the spacers. I'm not sure when I'll get to see for myself - we've had a couple of more inches of snow today! :squint:

I've making headway on improving my car!

Getting close to finished. Shigspeed front STB adaptors in place with my Whiteline STB. Had to move the cruise unit and the power steering line to get things in place. Then had to shorten the Whiteline bolts because they weren't quite short enough to fit the 34.5" Scott's adaptors needed. Looks good now!

Then pulled the rear driver's side strut apart to see why I've had a clunk - intermittantly for the past two years under heavy load or any local potholed road. Didn't find anything BUT after putting it back together I think it's gone!:biggthump

Then was going to replace the gasket between the primary and secondary on my hotshot header - but found the gasket in perfect shape except for a couple of bubbles. Cleaned it up, applied some high heat silicone, and put it back on with new bolts (yes, I snapped one taking it off but it was a bad bolt). I'll keep my new gasket for another day.

Okay, your turn now. What's your weekend car rest and relaxation project been?

I've been out to three lapping events since my R&R projects. Last weekend put over 400 track km on - 300 of them in one day. I am very pleased with my GA16 and how it's performing. I think that there might still be a couple of more HP in it for me to find, but I'm quite happy! Obviously the big HP cars own me on the straights, but in the corners I'm doing okay! And not too bad on the straights, either.

Where?

You might find 2 or 3 in the computer. Let me know if you want to hit the dyno when school gets out. Beyond that, you're looking into headwork, and while you've gone that far, you might as well do a complete rebuild. Makes the current setup look pretty good. How many kms on that car anyway?

I'm always an optimist!

There will be some dyno work in the near future to optimize the car's tune. I've got just over 190 Kms on the car and I don't plan on doing any headwork. I realize that there are points where you've just passed the point of being sensible, and headwork would be it for me personally with this car and engine. My next mod will be to wash and wax it - that should give me an extra 0.5 second advantage at most tracks.:biggthump

How hard was the cam install?

92nissannx

Not bad - but I had a good friend with me who's a licensed mechanic. That made life much easier! I know you've got the OE intake spacers - I thought that was a much worse install!

That's probably what you thought about cams this time last year!

No, the cams have been on the agenda for quite some time. I just couldn't handle the cost when the exchange rate was so against the Canadian dollar. As it was, I purchased a great deal items in the last 7 or 8 years that really cost me. Headwork - I may surprise myself. Turbo, well ...:D
