I replaced the clutch about a month ago and it was broken in properly (Spec Stage 3+ clutch). The car goes in gear with no problems but there's a whine noise when I release the clutch pedal. What could be causing this?

I called Spec and spoke to one of the techs and told him about the noise and he said the noise is due to the material of the clutch disk. He also said the noise is normal for that clutch. If you hadn't said anything about your experience, I would have thought it was something I did wrong, although I dropped the tranny and checked everything to make sure I didn't do anything wrong but the noise was still there. I should have called them when I first heard the noise. It would have saved me a lot of time. Now that we know the cause of the noise, this thread can be closed.

Its the throw out bearing actually. I wouldn't worry, my spec in the toyota does the same thing and I haven't had an issue yet.

Ding.... ding.... give this man a prize. Be very careful with the spec stage3(if it is the sprung hub) I have had them throw springs(mor often than other brands) and I had one that the hub ripped apart from the outer part of the disk and that was N/A..... with a little juice;) .
