: should i get a fuel pressure gauge
BlkB14 07-31-2002, 03:41 PM i want to get some gauges so here it goes:
NOS pressure
fuel pressure
air/fuel ratio
you guys think i need the fuel press. gauge???
i would get a EGT over a fuel pressure, i mean fuel pressure holds even inless somethign goes wrong, i would say EGT , to see if you are running lean or rich.

Thats the entire point.
BlkB14 07-31-2002, 08:42 PM ok, sorry. what's an EGT??
chimmike 07-31-2002, 08:59 PM exhaust gas temperature.
many piston aircraft use EGTs to make sure the mixture is just right, to get max performance and economy out of the engine.
BlkB14 07-31-2002, 09:14 PM so isn't that the air/fuel ratio gauge??
MagicPipes 07-31-2002, 10:03 PM EGT= Exhaust Gas Temperature, temperature increases as the mixture leans.
Air/Fuel reads the voltage from the stock O2 sensor.
I would get the fuel pressure gauge, I just installed an under the hood unit. If somethigns not right, it's nice to be able to eliminate potential suspects with a quick look at a gauge.

jon3k 08-01-2002, 09:47 AM I've got a greddy electronic fuel pressure guage as well (actually two of them, 60mm if anyone wants to buy one, never used). I plan on mounting 2 or 3 greddy white on black guages in the dash on the passenger side, above the console. Very nice, high quality guage. Fuel pressure is very important. If it drops, you lean out, then boom :)
the air to fuel only reads at full throttle, when the EGT reads all the time. its better, and the air to fuyel runs off the stock o2 sensor, which isn';t the best thing to do. its just not that accurate it gives you an idea, but not exact.
Back to the fuel pressure, i mean you could, they are kinda expensive and unnessary, i mean what are the odds of your fuel pressure talking a shit vs your air to fuel ratio being slighly off, i mean which would you rather know. personal, i am more concerned with a/f then fuel pressure.
BTW anyone know stock fuel pressure on the SR20.

Are you drunk or on something lately? Why are you all the sudden calling people names? This is the second thread where you called people "asshole" (the racing cops thread) and "dumbass". None of it is called for.
Since this post, I was directed toward another thread that says someone might have hacked into your account. If so, disregard my comments.

EGT sounds like the way to go but it assumes that one knows how to interpret the various temperatures. Does anyone know how to do that i.e. 500 degrees = lean or whatever? Is there a forum, website, book, chart or whatever that someone could educate themselves (myself included)?

shhhhhhhh! Dude, didn't you notice that no one cared and went about talking about the topic anyway? Remember, behavior that is ignored tends to go away...
