Hello All, The turbo conversion from a BB U13 into a SSS Pulsar is complete will be posting pictures soon. http://www.caraudioaustralia.com/ubb/image_uploads/autosalon shot.jpg

But for now I have a few questions. Well the car starts ok when cold and idles between 1200 and 800 rpm but really roughly. I have recently put in fuel injector cleaner and ran the tank empty. While the cleaner was in the car Idled better but not perfect but now that I been through a few tanks the idle has gone shity again also when the headlights or aircon is on the idle goes really rough. That was part 1 now part 2 when the car is warmed up after driving when the engine is turned off then started again the car will stall. The way I have been getting around this is by racing the engine several times until it starts idling by itself. Any suggestions on what the problem could be. Running 98 ron fuel and sparkplugs changed.

Nissan fuel injectors weren't made to use ANY type of fuel injector cleaner. Hope you didn't ruin 'em......

I shouldn't really say fuel injection cleaner... it was a fuel system cleaner recommended by one of the nissan dealerships in Australia. You pour the contents into an empty tank then fill the tank with premium fuel drive like normal and it cleans the system.

I dont think your injectors are fouled because I too am experiencing the same exact problems (and i didnt try the injector cleaner) . Sorry, I haven't found the cure yet though. Try checking for vacuum leaks.

I'm going to take it to an EFI specialist to get all the relevant sensors checked, dyno tuned, base idle reset, tps reset and maybe if required fuel injector ultrasonic cleaned. Will update everyone when it happens, but for now if anyway has any other suggestions it would be helpful.

did you check your aac that causes a jumpy/stalling idle when cold ? or mabe your fuel filter is pluged up ?

ACC as in ... airconditioning? If so my aircon is off, ummm maybe the fuel filter maybe the problem i'll get my mechanic to inspect it next time I see him.

Thanks

Thanks
the AAC is short for auxilary air controller... it's located on the right side of the intake manifold (its where the idle adjust screw is on) the AAC and the FICD(fast idle control device) are what raise the rpms when your engine is cold (sorry thats all I know). If those aren't working then you'll have cold start problems.
BTW, I changed the one on my DET with my old DE unit but it made no difference at all on the idle issues

P.S. If you decide to go for a diagnostics, please let us know your results.

Thanks I should be doing this inspection in several weeks time. So your car is having the exact same start problems when warm?

yeah mine idles low at cold starts (it almost stalls and sometimes I have to keep my foot on the gas) and basically, the longer i driver the car(the warmer the engine gets) the worse the idle gets and the needle is almost constantly hunting. I've replaced about 6 vacuum hoses, replaced the Idle regulator thing(with my DE unit), adjusted my TPS, regrounded my MAF, changed plugs and wires, and so far I've made no success.
P.S. I'll be spraying carb cleaner on my I.C. pipings tomorrow to see if there is any leak there.

I'll be changing my intercooler to a larger core unit and will then have custom pipes made up. Keep us informed with your intercooler test.

okay I spent a few hours today relocating my battery and cleaning under the hood(sorry I didnt get to test my I.C. pipings) but when I took off the battery tray, I ran into 3 electrical connectors(all side by side) and the one in the middle was half way disconnected. I reconnected it and started the car and the idle seemed much smoother. I wanted to really notice the difference so i went back and disconnected it while the car was running and the rpm dropped CONSIDERABLY. I'm going to take the car to work tomorrow so I'll see if the idle issues improve and find out if this was the culprit for my 4 month long idle problem.

Cool, so it could be an electrical issue.... ummm i have to look into that aswell. Thanks for the update.

I just drove my car 40miles today and idle was real nice and stable (even with the AC on  )
All of you guys having idle issues should check this electrical connector that I mentioned above.
I'm finally REALLY happy with my car now :)
