Hey everyone,
I'm looking to go ve head and am in the middle purchasing a ve head. I had a question however, if I use the greddy mss to engage vvl do I still need a de to ve flash? Or can I still use the sr20de ecu?
thanks

Hope you get the oil pump with that.

I thought you don't need the oil pump. Just use the gofastdepot oil line kit, and use a t fitting on the block.

Your going all motor correct? the DE oil pump is a lower volume pump vs the DET pump. I guess it might be fine if u don't rev it too high.... I tend to think of it as the 1st days of the LSvtec head swaps.

Seems to me Luis, the one who wrote the ve head swap isn't having any problems with that route. Thats the same route I'm going to take. Since you here, can I ask you a few questions?
I know I need the ve complete head, about to order that. I want to get the calcum ecu, but this also include vvl activation? Or do I need to get a greddy mms? Also can I use the same maf, and distributor? as in the ones off my sr20de?

Yeah I know luis did the head swap onto a DET which has diffrent oil pump from the DE. Calum ecu dosent trigger the VVL since it's a DE ecu. Reuse your stock harness.

Damn...now I really need to pull the motor out for this head swap.

You can just try it with the DE pump and keep the revs low. If your head is just stock cams just leave the limiter at 7500. I just wouldn't run the DE pump on a VE head but I'm just a scardy cat lol.

By high reving you imply above 7500? For now I don't want to do anything crazy with the motor. I just want the 187hp that comes with a stock ve. I do have a greddy mss in the mail, and I plan on shipping my ecu to calcum to get the b13 realtime. I'm getting the realtime because I figure I'll need to do some type of tuning for the motor, although I don't know jack squat about tuning. Going to leave the cams as the stock ve. Its my understanding thats all I really need to be concerned about, that rest of the part such as distributor and maf I can use of the old de correct?
My goal is simple, get the ve head in there and running...if I really need more power I'll work my ways up to it. Btw I'm really concerned about the timing chain and cam gears. I know I need to take the chain off when I put the new head on...but I have no idea how to adjust the timing chain. I've searched around a bit...but so far I haven't found a definite thread that answer my question...I'll try again more, maybe with less keywords. Oh and I have a scca 2.5" ebay knock of header right now. I hear that the ports don't match up on the ve head. Is it possible to just get some work done on the ports to widen them to match?
Thanks for your help yellow...appreciate it a lot. Most ppl wouldn't take the time to answer questions like these. I know I gotta search and I am..but theres a ton of info to sift through...and I'm not as informed and knowledgeable about motor builds. Sometimes its hard to know if your looking at the correct information.

The timing chain will fit no problem and so will the cam gears. You will have to mod the dizzy by cutting of a tab. When you get ur ECU hit me up and I'll give you a bin for VE injectors and DE maf thats been tuned on 91 pump summer blend gas.

Thanks for the quick reply. Concerning the cam gears and timing, I just can't find a DIY on how to make sure its on there properly with the correct timing. And do you have a picture of which tab to cut? Thanks again yellow.
