okay, my uncle and i are probably gonna fix my leaky rear main seal ourselves and i wanted to know everything that i must know before i attempt dropping the transmission. What i shouldn't and should do. Preferably a list of all the things i have to take off. Any advice appreciated, thanks.

Jack up car. Unbolt everything. Drop on friend's head. Just got done dropping mine for the 2nd time in a week. We installed an ACT clutch, and then had to replace the clutch arm. Our own fault, we kinda bent the arm putting things back. Anyway, that's the short list. Unbolt the mount under the battery, after taking the battery and tray out. Remove clutch cable from clutch arm, and remove black brace for cable. Drain fluid (into something clean if it's going back in), and pull axle. Unhook all sensors, and remove crank angle sensor (if you have it). It's the little one on the front held on w/ a 10mm bolt. Go all around the tranny, and unbolt it. Most are 17mm, a few are 14mm (for the starter). Just feel around and you'll find everything. Now try to back it off. It might need a little persuasion, but if it's not going, check for something you missed. When everythings out, it should come off pretty much by hand. Just wiggle it around. (No jokes, please.;) ) Just remember where everything goes, and try not to have to many *spare parts* at the end. Have fun.

p.s. If I missed anything, somebody please chime in.

Not sure if its necessary, but I removed the starter.

The starter bolts through the tranny so you need to take that out, some get away with not removing the passenger side axle, just be careful lining it back up when you put the tranny back on. You don't even have to drop the crossmember that runs across under the engine/tranny. there are some sensors that need to be disconnected also. It isn't a bad job really.

The starter can stay, as well as the drivers side axle. You do not have to pull it out of the trans. is what I mean. While your at it you might as well replace the clutch, it probably needs it if the seal is leaking.:)

the funny thing is that i just had the clutch replaced by some shop and also replaced the rear main seal and now the seal is leaking and i've gone through so much trouble to prove them wrong its juts not worth my time and money so that's why im asking questions about dropping the tranny.
