Does anyone know the factory set ignition timing of this engine?

14* at 400rpm

15* at 800rpm

This is straight from the SR16 ignition map.

Can we get a conclusive answer to this question?
The info I have so far for basic ignition timing on a totally standard factory fitted engine are:-

SR20DE - 15 degrees BTDC (Confirmed from manual)
SR20VE - 5 degrees BTDC (hear say)
SR16VE - 10 degrees BTDC (hear say)

Can someone confirm the timing for the two VE's and provide the document evidence?

15* @ TDC, although 15* doesn't work well on all the VE motors, so yeah, good luck on an answer.

If you want to know what it is str8 from a factory SR20VE ECU program it's 15*, VE's loveeee timing,

Old thread, but new info (for me.)

Base timing is available in the bin file at addresses 0460 (Base Idle Timing in Neutral) and 0470 (Base Idle Timing in Gear.) I believe that this value is the static advance that the ECU assumes that the distributor is set at, aka factory spec for base timing. For a stock B13 DE map, both values read 15*. I do not have a factory VE bin, but I have some Nissan bins that show different values for in gear (10*) and in neutral (15*).

If someone has stock VE bins they can probably see these values in TunerPro.

Bill, you already have a stock ve bin.
As for the xdf it is very easy to do.

Well, I tried to set up the xdf that you sent me by adding one of these items. I have not messed with xdf files before, so I'm learning some stuff. But apparently not enough. The addresses that I listed above are from my B13 bins -- they must not apply to the VE bins. That's one thing I learned that's stopping me from getting any further. I did find the base idle timing parameter in a B14 bin, but I could not get that address to work either. I'm actually crashing TP, so I guess I'll sleep on it and see if I get any bright ideas.

Thanks for your help -- I was able to see the stock timing and fuel maps for the VE, which were instructive.

Just a quick trick.
Take the B14 xdf and replace the E in adresses with 1 (ed00 to 1d00, e800 to 1800 etc). A bunch of maps will appear.

Thanks, Bill. Good tip -- it's working for most things.

Base idle i think is 5btdc in both 16ve and 20ve

Could someone confirm what exactly are those figures on the top axis?

It says TP Scale but if it is percentage then why is it not from 0-100?
