For you guys who have extended o2 sensor wires... what type of solder are you using? The wires won't solder with regular old solder. They are very hard wires and won't twist or anything..

Travis--

I had success with 'plain old' solder, on my O2 wires. The wire is a very springy kind of wire that won't bend or anything.

Get the wire very hot, and then see what happens.

IIRC, there's a 300ZX or Pathfinder O2 sensor you can buy that has longer wires on it, that will work on our cars.

Anybody?

Use electronics solder; not plumbers solder.
Cheers,
Charlie :)

like charlie said, use electronics solder, and apply flux liberally to the wire you want soldered. it helps ALOT

300zx NA cars have a 18 inch long (or so) wire. The Pathfinder 3.5 is much longer but cost twice as much. I just moved my conector by unwrapping the electrical tape and used a NA 300ZX O2 that cost about 50 bucks from nissan.

Just to clarify for me, this is from a 90-96 NA 300zx ?
I needed to replace my O2 sensor ...last week :p

I quess. The part number is 22690-48P10. I bought it from Brain at Courtesy Nissan of course. Did you know that most the Nissan O2 sensors are basically the same except the wire length. Hmm.

The trick is to crimp, then solder and then heat shrink.

Is there a certain type of wire to use when extending the O2 sensor plug?

TIA...Jody

speaker wire here, shit. it works, well, until you run about 15 gallons of C16 through it, then the O2 sensor is no longer happy for some reason.....shit.
