Ok , Ive read and read , now my eyes are sore , lol
It appears that the most common thing you guys are doing is stroking the 1600 to 2000, So I will assume the crank swap is doable.

So then the next question is ,
Am I correct in assuming I get a sr20de RWD block , and fit the sr16vvl FWD crank and rods and pistons, machine the block to give same compression height as the original vvl block.
Then its just a matter of plumbing up the oil supply to the head as per the vvl head onto any sr20 ve block etc:

:)

Anyone done this ?
Anything obvious I should do for more power etc|:

If you want to make a rwd SR16VE.

Step 1 buy SR16VE
Step 2 buy SR20DE rwd
Step 3 transfer over crank, rod, pistons into rwd block, swap oil pump too

Now you have a 140-160hp 2600lb rwd car. Easiest way I see to get the EFI working is to use a Tech 3 engine management unless your going to cut the firewall for the fwd Dizzy to fit. Or you could try and hunt down a 20V cas and find a plug to make it work. Just buy the Tech 3.

Cheers for that yellow.

You will have to spend the coin on a Electromotive Tech 3 or similar engine management. The Hp figures I gave you were at the wheels.

it could but why would you bother?

also you will need to make up a custom plenum

Because it will cost him $150 (stock ECU + calum or whatever daughter board) and he can have a ready-to-go engine within a week?

1st of he is going rwd. The Dizzy is more than likely going to hit the firewall and the motor won't fit. If he did a rwd VE search he would see the pics. He can't cut the firewall to make room for it so thats out of the question. He sounds like he is trying to stay within in some racing rules.

fair enough, i do see your reasons

i would buy a whole 16ve package from jap that comes with ecu loom etc, it will be much cheaper in the long run

your plan sounds very good and the car should be a weapon, however i dont know if the 16ve crank will fit the rwd block, but yellow seems to think it will so should be fine

It will fit it's a SR crank. If it were a B16 crank It might not fit. My SR16 crank was a 8cw crank.

Obviously the deck height may need to be altered to get the same squish height in the SR20 as the 1600 has a shorter stroke.

You wont need to machine the block as all SR's have the same deck height. The SR16 uses longer conrods to compensate for the shorter stroke.

Nice cars by the way :)

sorry i'm a bit confused looking at the pic, do you want to tap where you have drawn the circle and run it back to the sump. Whats the other line drawn?

Already sorted.
Yes return to sump.
Other line is where you could cut flange off completely as it does nothing .
