: SR16 pistons in GTI-R block ?

Hi,

i have a unusual question. I have a race car (B15) with a GTI-R motor for the moment...but i'm looking to switch to N/A (short story)

So, is it possible to swap some SR16VE pistons in a GTI-R block and raise compression to 11.8:1 (???). The gti-r as already the oil squirter and the solid pivot for high revolution. I just have to ad some S3M cams and spring to rev over 9 000 rpm....

Is it correct? Does the compression is correct.

I'm assuming that a OEM 8.3:1 compression with SR16 pistons should be lower than 12.0:1 (DE with SR16).

Thanks for our input.

Don't talk about a VE+T...i'm leaving the turbo world.

That would be a badass set-up :D

S3m's top it off

Consider a Water injection set-up if the C/R is above 11.5:1

Why not just buy a SR20VE motor? S3's even make power past 7770? only time I have ever seen a VE rev out to 9500 the power wasn't doing a cliff dive. SR16 pistons need to be moded because they never went low enough to touch the oil squirters in the SR16 block. Just sell ur GTiR and buy a SR20VE can't go wrong with OEM.

The S3M was a exemple...I could go with 272 Tomei also...But i love to match the ITB with the high compression piston...And the Piston are pretty cheap VS a new SR20VE engine even if a sell my GTI-R engine.

mmmm ITB's :)

that would be a MEAN set up!

i wonder if its possible to put the itb's on a ve head?

It possible....but not easy. The GTI-R is high port and the VE is low port i think....:(

dang. how do the gti-r ITB's work? ive never seen them, but heard about them. are they open or in a plenum? maf sensor or no?

Plenum with MAF sensor before the turbo....look in the turbo section, there plenty of GTI-R owner.

sucks they are in a plenum. it would prolly be worth it to use a maf translator and run open itb's :D

That combo would be 11.6:1 or so as the GTiR head has a larger chamber volume than the De head.
