Hey everyone,

UPDATE: Need helping finding the correct rpm wire on the ecu. (when looking at the blue connector from the back, were the wires go into it, not where the holes are the plug into the ecu) I tapped into the wire that was described to be below. No rpm...help!! and the wire is cut now!!!

So my greddy mss came in the mail today. I got it used from a website online. I was guaranteed that it is in working order, however I have no method of testing it. Do any of you know how I might rig this unit up to make sure its functioning? Attached are some pictures of the unit, I'm pretty sure this is what its suppose to look like but can someone confirm for me?

Thanks Much Everyone!

P.s. Mod - sorry about posting in the wrong section...there was a lot of talk about the greddy mss there..didn't know it need approval. Hopefully I found the right section now.

Ok everyone, using the diagram listed in the vvl section I managed to partially test my mss unit. Thus far I've verified that it will activate both channels 1 and 2 at an rpm of zero. However I can only test at rpm zero because I have yet to figure out how the speed and rpm wires work.
Can anyone tell me how the mss utilizes that rpm and speed wires? I thought it might be via voltage, so I bought a rheostat and hooked it up, however using a 12v source with my rheostat I couldn't get the mss to register an rpm, except 0. I really wanna make sure that at my mss can read an rpm.

All I can tell you is that in a B13 you take rpm from the blue/black wire toward the right side of the lower left quarter of the harness at the ecu.

I've just taken a look at the Greddy support site and it's next to useless on the MSS...:(

Any I believe the RPM and speed signals to the ecu are on/off pulses rather then a variable voltage. Easiest way to check the unit out is to temperary wire it in, connect the actuator wires to a couple of 12V bulbs and test it out...

Yea thats what I did...I bulbed it. On and off pulses you say..hmm...I'll just try. Thanks.

No good...I guess I can't hand pulse fast enough. Btw how do you tap into the ecu. Do I remove the clip that hooks into the ecu and try to remove the pin and add my wire into the pin with the existing one? Or should I cut the wire and try to solder them together? And where did you all hook up the ignition red wire? Did you just tap it to any 12v source?

ARGG!! I tapped the tach wire, and its not giving me a tach reading on the mss. I'm running the mss on batteries, I'm to lazy to wire it all up. I just wanna make sure it can get an rpm signal. The brown is for rpm correct? and the wire I'm suppose to tap for the ecu is to the right of the bolt. And in the bottom left hand corner of the quarter.

Here are some pictures of the ecu and the wire I tapped.

ya can't run the MSS on batteries and tap the tach wire.. you need to run the MSS on the same electrical circuit as the car or else it won't read anything. It reads the tach as a pulsing ground, but if you have it hooked up to a battery, the ground reference is different.

Cool..I guess I gotta wire it up. However, I tried using my multimeter. Placing the positive lead on the wire that comes from my tap, to the battery. I put the multimeter on 10dcv and im not getting a reading. My stock tach still works. Am I not suppose to get a reading?

Where do i wire up the ignition? Any old 12 volt source?

Ok so I got the mss power of the cars cig lighter, wired the ignition to the same positive wire temporarily. Still not getting an rpm reading.

Ok I got the wire to remove the clips I was using to tap the wire. By clipping it my tach should no longer function, correct? However after cutting it my tach still works. OH SNAP! Did i cut a wire that was vital to the function of the ecu? Ran the multimeter...no voltage running through the wire while the engine is on. So I'm guessing that wire did nothing. Then which one is my tach wire? GOD DAMN this is pissing me off...now I got a cut wire, that could possibly be bad..and I still can't figure out which one is for my tach.

Could it be that the pin diagram I am using is incorrect for this ecu? I have a A11-B22 B98, which is from a 91 Nissan NX 2000/Sentra manual, reg c and for a b13 sr20de. I'm using the pin diagram from paul(uk) but clearly its not working. Can someone please help!!
