15.3 @ 91.5mph
2.50 60'

sr20ve / headers/exhaust/intake/stock ecu.
VVL changed at 5000rpm.

the 60' is obviously bad, i expect i can get that down to a 2.3, but the lack of MPH worries me.

I hope to take off a second with a retune and more revs (to 8000), as changing at 7000rpm means a change to 4th before the line, and should have more power to play with on upshifts. At the moment it drops to about 5000-5500 on each shift up.

what do you think?

p.s. slicks are out of the question, no LSD to warm both tyres, and cant get slicks in 17" diameter here.

thats really not all that bad, especially because if you were getting a decent launch that would be a low 14 sec car. maybe with a little better 60ft you can get a few more mph.

looking at the time and 60 i would definitly say better driving, is where its at, getting more revs isnt really going to help much if you arent getting better 60's thats where you are losing some of your 1/4th time (obviously) definitly feel better drving would give you a bette 1/4th nmber, verses tuning the ect for more revs

yeah, i should be able to get to a 2.3 which will take me to high 14's.
pretty sure the heavy brakes and wheels (wheels will be changed to ones that are 3kg lighter each soon) dont help either.

after a tune, lighter wheels and more practice i'd like a low-mid 14 @ about 95mph

I'm curious, what was the 1/8th mile time and mph?

The 17" rims aren't helping things either. A few more revs and a light set of 15" rims gets you 14s.

An LSD gearbox and a good launch....

anything less than 17's isnt an option due to the size of my brakes
and LSD is on the menu one day

jer: will have to check

hey lonewolf, is that engine in a N14 ???

i got a 15.334 with a SR16ve in my N15 sedan, shitty 2" exhuast, DIY PVC pipe intake and shit street tyres.
i wudve thought the SR20ve wudve done better ?

yeah in an n14.
theres a good .4 seconds in the fact i cant drive :)
probably a bit more thanks to the big brakes and heavy rims

sr16ve ecu doesnt need to be shifted at 7000rpm too which seemed like a big factor when racing it.
what mph did you run?

I did a 16.4 with the same setup as yours but in a Primera wich is quite heavier than the N14. Mph was also about 91. I then changed the Ecu to a SR16, fitted a LSD, some tuning with a piggyback and ended up with a 15.1 @95.5 Mph
The extra 1000 Rpm made a huge difference plus the 16VE Ecu have a more aggressive timing map. All these were also running 17" alloys with big brakes.
Try and get some soft compound rubber and something with a higher profile like 195/55/17. I know it would look ugly but you only need it for the strip.

interesting...

guess i'll see how it goes after a tune.
Looks like i'll also be getting an sr16ve gearbox with VLSD. Used to have one of these and they are nice to use. Should combine well with the VVL.
