I went down to the dyno today. Thomas Rynolds and I have been trying to figure some stuff out with our cars.

10lbs 13deg 244hp
10lbs 15deg 248hp
10lbs 16deg 250hp
12lbs 13deg 256hp
13lbs 15deg 270hp
15lbs 16deg 305hp

first number is pounds of boost, second is degrees of timing, third is WHP

These are my no bullshit, no shady stuff numbers. F-max st 2, JWT s3 cams, UR pulleys, 3inch exhaust. 50lb 3bar fuel. Thats it. Car was dynod on pump gas for daily use numbers

Very nice, Shawn. 305 at the wheels is serious business. :D

What's the max that you're making on pump gas without detonation? And what kind of ET's are you running with that setup?

For safty reason I never dyno on pure pump gas. I would say the mixture was more like 95oct just for safty issues. I have never run the setup on the track with slicks but my old setup with a smaller turbo ran a 12.50 at 112.26

What kind if WHP were you running to get to that time? And what size slicks?

What size Turbo ? T3/T04e, Which turbine and compressor housings ? Thanks,

24.5x8x13 inch slicks. The car wieghs 2500lbs in stock trim and with the .63ar housing.

Currently running a garrett t3t4 .60compressor and .82ar exhaust.

So your cars can put down 300 HP to wheels w/o internals? Man thats not fair. ha. Whats the compression on your motors? I was planning on getting a bluebird swap if I got an SE-R but w/ your results its a hard decision. As you can see in my sig I already tried turbo'ing a NT DSM and kinda didn't work (Blew up on dyno). Help a Nissan newbie out man.

With careful engine management... there are people making 400whp on stock DE internals.

Basically a stock SE-R with cams and an F-Max stage 2 kit CAN run high 12's (12.8-12.99) on pump gas at 12-14bs of boost. I wouldn’t do that on pump gas though. On race gas and a little more boost 15-16lbs you can run lower 12.3-12.5 times. All runs made on slicks of course and I always run better then pump gas at the track for engine safety. Usualy straight c16. My best run to date was one of three runs made on slicks. I have been down the track 100 times but this was my first on slicks. Since then I have made a change to the turbo and have had the time to tune it on the dyno a bit more. Keep in mind that 15lbs in relatively moderate considering people out there running 18-20lbs on pure c16 race fuel. A stock sr20de has 9.5:1 compression. A sr20det has 8.5:1 compression. People have run 12.8-12.9 on the BB motors with cams and pulleys but its alot harder to due. I give those guys credit.

I don't see any reason on a track day on c16 not to run like 18 20 pounds of boost on a t304e i mean maybe not on a 60 trim with stock internals but with my setup I'm hoping to hit high 11's with a 57 trim and the 50lb 4 bar setup..... and there a people running 400 horses or close to it on stock internals with just a jwt ecu and maybe a afc nothing to crazy on the engine management side...., and eclipses can handle well over 300 horses on stock internals as well but they really need to be tuned right with an afc and egt.... I would like for someone to give me a reason not to run 18 pounds of boost on a track day.. also if your starting to get signs of potential detonation or problems then obviousely you wouldt do it but other than that??

Very Nice numbers. I love making good power on pump gas. I usually stop close to 350 for safety reasons. I got 340whp at 15psi with 9.2 pistons with no knock whatsoever on good ol pump gas.

Have fun with that power.

2 Questions for u. How did u adjust the timing because I thought that the JWT ecu did this? And the T3/4 turbo that came with the F-max stage 2, did u custom order the turbo or is this the standard that comes with the kit?

Of course I would agree with you 100% on the boost issue. My SE-R is my only mode of transportation and is required for work purposes. It’s not so much the engine issue but the tranny one. The JWT ECU does control the timing of the engine but you can advance this by turning the distributor just like you would on a V8. IT IS STRONGLY RECOMMENDED THAT YOU LEAVE THIS AT 15 DEG. ESPECIALY IF YOU DONT KNOW MUCH ABOUT IT. I used to go to the dyno to see how much HP I could make until I finally figured out that it was a waste of time and money. The fastest your ever going to be on the street is going to be on pump gas 99% of the time. I plan on going back down to the dyno in a few weeks to see what it will do on 17-18lbs on straight C16.

You can specify turbos through F-Max when you order one of there kits. The stock turbo is a t3t4 with a .50 compressor housing and a .63a/r exhaust housing. This turbo is good for plenty of power but a larger turbo will produce more HP at the same boost levels due to exhaust flow. If that makes since. Larger turbos have more lag and take longer to spool. The other turbo you can specify is a .57 compressor housing and an .82a/r exhaust housing. This turbo is good for more HP but will take longer to spool like I said above. The turbo I run is a Garrett t3t4 with a .60 compressor housing and an .82a/r exhaust housing. A spacer had to be added between the manifold and the turbo to shim it up and away from the engine. The catch can had to be removed along with the piece of the head that it bolts to. The downpipe also had the be reworked with a different flange and lengthend for the extra hieght of the turbo. All in all it wasnt worth switching to the garrett for less money than the turbonetics that would have bolted right up.

So, so the turbonetics t304e .57 compressor trim and .63 exhaust housing wont require a shim to keep it away from the block??

nope, it will bolt right up. Someone has some pictures of my engine hosted somewhere from the 2002 serca convention but I cant find them.

ay Shawn thanks for the info. I spoke to F-max today and they said the the turbo that comes with the stage 2 is good for up to 400hp.
