are these the same? because i had not recieved an oxygen sensor when i purchased my engine after running it without the sensor i decided to use a de sensor instead but now the air/fuel ratio gauge is now acting funny and is even fluctuating in park...................could this be due to the de sensor

I used a DE sensor with DE wiring harness for my VE. I'm pretty sure that the O2 sensors are the same. What are you using for an AFR gauge? What do you mean by "acting funny"? The signal from a narrow band sensor (like the OEM sensor) flops back and forth at idle if the ECU is in closed loop mode. This is normal.

Yeah what he said ^^^^ It will go up and down even in park as the narrow band are not accurate enough to measure A/F.You need a wide band sensor to get a proper reading.
