Ok guys, got a problem. My drivers side axle went out two weekes ago. After we put the new axle in, whenever I cut a hard corner I get this feeling from the front left wheel like I'm driving on a rumble strip. Sort of a *thuka* *thuka* *thuka* *thuka* *thuka*. Not real slow like, fairly quick beat, and it changes as you give it gas. Feels like the tire is chunking bad, but its not. We thought it was because the front sway bar wasn't connected on that side (broke the endlink putting in axle, long story), but we fixed that this morning. Went autocrossing and the first run out, same problem. Any ideas? This sucks. Bad axle? Bad wheel bearing? Bad lower control arm bushing? The hand of God making something on my car break? I'm probably going to get the axle replaced *again*, but just wanted to check to see if anyone recongnized this problem.

Thanks guys.

I had to replace a new axle after only 1500 miles, so it's possible that you got a "bad" new axle also.

Thats what I'm afraid of. Sucky sucky. I've never had these particular symptoms before though. Argh!

Well, there goes the theory that if I would have made my old car into the raSEcaR, it wouldn't have had the axle problem that ended my first race. ;)

What kind of axle did you replace the original with? A remanufactured one? The quality on those have been known to be kinda "iffy." The driver's-side one in mine was a remanufactured one, probably less than 2,000 miles (albeit, very hard ;)) before it blew. I know somebody else with a Prelude who had a remanufactured axle blow, too, during a race.

The feeling that the tire has chunked is exactly what it felt like in my car (at 80mph going through turn 10 at Summit).

I'd check the other things you mentioned, too, just to be on the safe side. The control arm bushing should be easy to check as well as the wheel bearing. It might also be the stupid spherical bearing on the camber plate, although I replaced both last summer.

One last thing: You autocrossed your car?! :D

All mine just did the old click while turning trick. Suck. On the brighter side I think I'm going to use this for an excuse to update the suspension a bit. Already ordered a couple more toys. :)Originally posted by slowSER
