I went to an autocross today, and about 3/4 into it, the power steering basically disappeared. The steering wheel got very heavy, and when I pulled into the pits, there was fluid all over the place. I'm using Valvoline Synthetic fluid. I have never had this problem with my 200, but the Sentra does it each time. When I first bought the car, it puked fluid at a December race, and it was snowing. I figured it was cheap, old fluid. It was in the high 90s, and it felt like the heat index was around boiling temps. Does anyone else have this problem? calum came out, and with Pat's trick with a rag zipped tied around the bottle, he didn't have a problem. His car had other issues, but that's for another thread.

I thought I remember reading a thread on here to replace the power steering reservoir and cap with the one from the 200sx. Anyone care to affirm this?

Yeah, I remember reading that. I got one from a later G20, the caps seal better. Truthfully, any one of the modern ones from an Altima, Sentra, 200, or G20 would work. The inlet and outlet are the same. If you need one, PM me. How about $30-$40 bucks shipped, depending on what my boss charges me.

Eric--
If the fluid came out and was all over the firewall back behind the manifold, I can help you. Went down THAT road last year. And, it sucked, quite frankly.
The line that snakes down the back side of the manifold is the suspect in that case. It is one of the poorest designs of any line I've ever seen.
Fill us in on where the fluid was found: Around the reservoir, on the firewall/intake manifold upper, or below all that and on the splash shield or steering knuckle.

It was all around the reservoir and inner fender. The lines are fine.

My FSM says to use Dex II/ATF fluid in my 98 SE. What are you using? Is a classic different?
