I was recently asked if I wanted an '84 Pulsar, basically for free (transmission is locked in 5th). I was thinking, how would a SR20 swap work in this car? The Pulsar's are really lightweight cars, and I was thinking this might make a real badass sleeper (DET possibly???) What do you guys think? Not worth trying? Input plz.

If you get the car for free, you can't loose.:) It would be a great sleeper;)

Can you say SLEEPER go for it. Everyone that pulls up to you will think that you have nothing. Until you drop the clutch and lay down the power. This car will be the ultimate sleeper. Especially since its free

if anyone knows Rich from the 240 boards he had the website fatmanracing.com

when i was at the 240 kc meet he had his pulsar nx with sr20det ran a 14.01 at that time with some problems and bad traction. he hd to make all the mounts himself

but yes it was the ultimate sleeper. nothing like seeing a vette look over in suprise like "wtf is this car still next to me for?!"

now that was priceless:D

Yeah, and I just found out it's a '84 (B11)! Hee, hee. Sounds like fun. I just wouldn't have the funds to build it for a while. It would be cool to get a group to gether to work on it w/ donated parts or something (cough, cough... GRM 2003 car.. cough, cough). DET, NOS. No one would see that coming!

Hi there guys

I was reading this thread and had to tell you that i have already done a
SR20DE swap into a 1985 B11. It is normally aspirated with header and exhaust
with the help of NOS (100Hp shot)
It managed to do the 1/4 mile in 13.8s on street tires.
The swap is not easy but can be done with patience. I didn't cut any of the stock suports on the B11 but i did had to make a new base for the Tranny mount and a custom underbrace because the B11 doesn't come with one but the SE-R does and it helps with the extra weight of the 2.0L engine.
The axles are another big story because they wouldn't fit.

If you want to do the swap go ahead and do it. It is great to beat modified Integra's and Civic/s with our junker looking B11.

The Pulsar is slightly different as it is designated the KN12. An E15t was offered as an option and the fellows in Australia, love this little engine. Some of them are pumpin mid 300's to the wheels. Just a thought, maybe not as torquey and less overall power potential, but it would be cheap, easy, and fast enough to still whoop up on some stuff.

I would love to get a 87/88 Pulsar NX SE to play with, along with a 92-93 240SX SE Coupe, Z31 300ZX, AE86, etc.
