It's 2.5 inches but I heard that you cant use one on the sr20 application. I bet there is no room before the MAF and after the MAF it might leak and cause a problem.

I bought a 3" AEM bypass for my HotShot lowport CAI two years ago. The quality of the valve was extremely poor. After two months, the foam around it deteriorated and the whole valve eventually broke in half. Loss of power with the valve was also evident. I noticed that air came in through the valve when the engine was revved. In short, I wouldn't recommend the AEM bypass. I would suggest to just convert your CAI to a short air intake when there is a downpour.

I have also heard nothing but negative things about these BPV's. Of course, I've always been weary in FL since there are sudden downpours. You can't exactly uninstall the CAI extension when you are in the parking lot of Publix w/ a hurricane. Its always fun dodging puddles anyway, why would you want to stop!? :D

Wasnt there a recall on the early bypass valve because the foam they used fell apart? If yours was one of the effected ones, maybe you could get it replaced.

I didn't know that there was a recall on them. Oh well. I doubt that they would've honored mine since both the foam and the actual plastic valve broke. Also, I would've ask for cash back instead of a replacement.

From what I understand, the AEM, HotShot, and Pacesetter CAI's filters are located in the same location. Their tubings are the same except for shape. I don't understand why AEM CAI would be different. But seriously, we really shouldn't be driving in 6" puddles anyway even if you had a BPV. :)

From what i have read in the archives, a BPV is discouraged. Some have even reported sucking the foam filter into their intake. Others blame off-gassing from the chemical break down of the foam for ruining their MAF's. Regardless, the only time a BPV is of any use is if the intake is complete submerged in water (read: shop vac). And even then, the length of pipe from filter to intake is so short I doubt a BPV would stop all the water.

I can tell you I have had a CAI for nearly 5 years and ~35,000 miles on my '91 SE-R (I own one of the first HS units). Of those 5 years it has seen countless downpours, 1000 of rain soaked highway miles and 1000's of car washes in my driveway.
