Friday night coming back from work a lady cuts me off, as she is coming out of Home Depot. I was going to go ahead and hit her till i realized that there were to small children in the car. So i put the car into Nuetral and started to break hard. I ended up going over a curb at 45 miles an hour. Well got the news today from the mechanic i brok the L/F Stabilizer Link, L/F Strut Rod, L/F Front Strut Rod Bracket. L/F Lower Control Arm, and last but not least the FT Crossmember. Hopefully i will have pics soon.

Good heads up driving with the presence of mind to avoid a car carrying children. Cars can be replaced, kids cannot. Kudos ;)

As much as I hate to agree, it also sucks that you're now responsible for damage to your car that was the result of someone elses bad driving (I can't stand minivan drivers, most in my area anyway seem to have no respect for anyone else on the road.) A side note though, something that I've learned the hard way (was fun watching the guy in the mercedes try to rip my old 71 Impala after he realized it was more solid than his was, rofl) is that it's better to hit the one that forced the situation than take on full responsibility as long as the way you end up hitting them would MAKE it their fault, although I understand your choice in this one. If she had the kids properly restrained, which I somehow highly doubt, they would've been fine in a straight rear end collision as long as she was moving and you weren't going incredibly faster than her. Did she bother to at least stop and say "I'm sorry for being ignorant and a bad driver and forcing you off the road and thanks for not hitting my minivan full of kids"?

What is it with people's driving this past year? Is it just me, or are drivers in general growing more stupid with each passing day. They seem to be more and more common now. Props to Nissan240SX for making a damn godd choice, even though it cost him much in the way of repairs. I feel you pain, I got run off the road by a drunk one time when I first got my license Thankfully I didnt suffer as much damage as you did. Only cost me a rim repair, cv joint, and a couple tires. Good luck with your car!

Got the news back seing as how my car is a 91 I have to order all of my parts from Nissan which i guess is good. ITs also not to bad 600 dollars in parts and the guy doing the work is my bestfriends dad so Its like a case a beer to fix the problem. But on a side not I do have to replace all four rims on my car. Here is the problem with that I bought these rims http://groups.msn.com/TwistedcreationSimportCC/shoebox.msnw?action=ShowPhoto&PhotoID=36 and they won't fit on the car, these rims are 17 inch rims that weigh 18lbs I don't have paypal or anything so If you are in the Kansas City area and want them email me and what not I want 500 dollars for them. They where 1200 Brand New so this is a good deal. Thanks All for the compliments. Oh and DONO200SX I agree people have become brain dead in the past year. OH and to answer the question did she stop. If she had only. My lawyer wished she would have thats for darn sure.

Well on the bright side, the car isn't totaled. That would be TRULY sad. How come those beautiful rims won't fit on the 240? Wrong bolt pattern? Keep us posted on how the repairs go....

Did you get the woman's information or anything? I'm wondering if since she cut you off if she could still be held responisble. Probably depends on how good your lawyer is. Might be worth a try....

Things where happining so quickly i didn't look at the make of the car or the tag number. YOu know one of those things that you are trying to keep the car under control so you don't take the kids out but other than that i can remember everything.

I was thinking the same thing...might want to look into small claims court. A civil suit *might* be possible, but your lawyer fees might eat up any potential settlement.

Good luck regardless, and though you damaged your vehicle, IMHO, you made the right choice. Properly restrained or not, it could be a traumatic experience for the kids, to be in an accident. As Shoes59 put it, "Kudos". :)

Large Kudos for protecting the children... even if the mother was an idiot. Impressive to see someone think of others first instead of worrying about the insurance crap... children are irreplacable, cars can be fixed.

Sorry about the money it will cost to repair the vehicle, but you did the right thing.

And for the person who thought that maybe you should have gone ahead and hit the car hoping the children were wearing restraints..... booooooo, hissssssss.

Later,
Mark

Maybe we should start putting small video cameras in our car facing out the front window. I have the same problem.... I'm sure an 80GB HD would be plenty. just have the video camera set to record over what was previously recorded unless you tell it not to. I need it just for the idiots who hit my car in the middle of the night. lol ok maybe not... thats a lil extreme.. ;) :D

Damn. That sucks. Judging from the picture of your left door, you have a little frame damage. Or was that already there? Good luck with the repairs... I hope things go well with the repairs...

I am going to have all that worked on by my body man when i get my body kit. That way when he repaints it he can also paint the body kit and the front end.

My brother hit a curb in my eclipse (use to have not now), would have cost 1300 to fix. i said f**k it and drove it like that till i gave it to the bank hahahaha, and i am not paying sh*t for it. insurance gave me 138 bucks to fix it so i paid another month with them and switched insurance companys. i hate state farm.
