LOL Of course, it's a rhetorical question, this is my replacement for the DE with the rod that went "out" to get some fresh air.

I got an awesome deal on it so I couldn't pass on it.

The compression test (with a very weak battery) showed between 175 +- 5psi on each cylinder, but I assume it's been out of the car and without oil for a while. Low cams look like they have some heat marks but no grooves or anything, they are just not as shiny as the high cams or my de cams (don't know what other ve cams look like).

Ohh and the engine came with a complete harness (except for something cut off next to the alternator) and NO VE maf :(

I am going to use the following:

- De maf
- de ecu (don't know if to get it over to Calum or not)
- de temp sensors
- de tb
- summit switch @4800 for both
- de dizzy with coil
- DE harness of course
- A/C delete on VE
- Fidanza
- my custom 2.5" CAI
- 2.5 mandrel bent exhaust (modify the manifold or not?)

and the rest from VE

What do you think, any suggestions of what to change or modify before the install would be welcomed.

I am also trying to install the oil pressure and water temp gauges (for safety on the track) what is the best strategy?

What to modify to fit my 2.5 SSAC?

VQ or B14 oil filters?

Use the DE sensors, but I would send the ECU to Calum and use the VE injectors. Using the DE parts is such a disservice to the VE. Your oil filters will be B14 also, or you can swap the high port filter housing over.

Are you suggesting in using VE sensors? or you just saying that without Calum Ecu the car won't be the same? I am planning of using VE injectors but MAF don't have a choice other than my DE maf.
What is the best setup as far as the parts as I want to maximize VE's capabilities.

Use the DE sensors with either the DE or a Calum ECU. The maf depends on what ECU and program you are using, but the DE should be fine. Using the VE injectors and DE ECU will cause the car to run rich. A basic ECU from Calum is ~$150. Do it right, or don't do it at all IMO.

yeah for sure get the calum ecu. night and day diff. seriously. he can tune the ve injectors for it with your de maf, no big deal. runs perfect in my car

How much gain is from Maxima/VE maf?? DE maf has a bottleneck in the system.

What is the turn around time for Calum basic B13 - VE flash?

Thanks.

I wanna do it right, but wondering if my value key with B15 disk clutch (only 3K on it) will be appropriate with a stock VE (planning to take it on the track shifting at 7.5K).:biggthump (just like me DE) lol

Unless you really plan on modding the car, the DE MAF will be fine. There isn't a power increase from the VE MAF.

Some people suggest swapping DE oil filter bracket over to VE, is it recommended?
Does everyone uses bkre6-11? gapped at ~.040"?
I want to connect oil press and water temp gauges, where is the best spot to tap into those on the VE?
(I am trying to find electric senders)

Thanks.

All of your questions so far have been covered in this section or in the FAQ. You don't HAVE to swap the bracket. Some people want to use the same filters are before. I think the filter is in a better place on the back, and it's easier to get to.

I heard from a smart guy today that the VE TB may be better to use in colder climates since it has the fast idle and the DE TBs don't. Without it, the mixture may get too rich from the closed TB and the engine may stall out when it's cold. I'm running a VE TB (which worked great last winter) but despite that I'm going to try a DE TB to get cruise back and to help rule out some TPS voltage issues.

As for the SSAC header, I didn't need to modify the ports much. They were actually bigger than the ports on the DE head of my B15 RR motor. They were a little offset though so I used an air grinder after tracing the metal VE exhaust gasket onto the header flange.

I never get tired of seeing that badge. :biggthump
