Hey all, I want to paint my AEM cold air intake black and it's currently powdercoated silver from the factory. Is it ok if I sand the powdercoat, prime, and paint it? Or does it need to be blasted and powdercoated again?
Thanks

depends what kind of quality you want...i personlly wouldn't really care how or what color it would be ... if i was to be painting it i would prolly:
sand at least with some steal wool pad
spray primer
high heat paint (best if used light coats...you will find yourself doing a lot of layers but in the end it is better)
and your done ...let it dry well

Rough up and paint on the powder is good.
Powder coating makes a good base coat.

Sounds good. Should I even bother with using primer or should I still do so?

as long as the powdercoating is not shiny or glossy anymore you can just paint rite onto it, at times old paint without clearcoat is a better base coat then primer.
