I failed my emissions test a few days ago so I tested some vacum hoses around the egr/bpt valves and discovered there was no vacuum from the bpt valve to the egr valve, but there was a vacuum entering the bpt valve. I figured my bpt valve was broken, but I decided I should test to make sure the bpt valve doesnt work befor I spent 50 bucks to replace it. I took it off and had someone blow into the bottom will I sucked into one of the hoses. This created a vacuum on the other side, so the bpt valve IS working. I put my finger over the hose entering the bottom of the BPT valve to feel for exhaust pressure but I couldnt. So im not getting any positive pressure on the bottom of the BPT valve. My question is why? The hose comes straight out of the header, into this piece bolted to the intake manifold, then to the bpt valve. Is something clogged? Is there a problem with the piece that bolts to the intake manifold? Or could the fact that I have a hot shot header be causing this? Please help me. TIA

There's a pipe that runs from the exhaust manny/header in the front of the engine to the intake manny in the rear of the engine. The BPT has a small tube comming off this bigger pipe. There is a small pin-hole between the big pipe and the BPT tube that tends to get clogged. You need to get to that pin-hole. I was able to loosen both ends of the pipe(at the exhaust manny and intake manny) and then rotate the pipe up enough to get to the pin-hole. I used a paper clip and other pokey/scrapey things to finally open up the pin-hole. This job is kinda a pain in the ass, but I'm pretty sure that it's what allowed me to pass my emmisions.

ok, ill have to check and see. I tried to blow into where the exhaust is supposed to come out of and enter the bpt valve and i couldnt, so I guess its clogged (unless there is a valve the prevents flow in the oposite direction). Im not really sure where the pinhole is that your talking about though. There is a big pipe that goes from the header to a piece that is bolted to the IM. On the other side of the piece that is bolted to the IM is a small tube that goes to the bpt. Im just a little confused about where your saying the pinhole is.

The pin-hole is in the piece that joins the big pipe and the BPT tube. It should correspond to the where the BPT tube attaches. Man, I wish that I could describe it better. . . I'm pretty sure that once you get in there it'll be more understandable.
