Yeah lets talk about this some. What rev limiting can we do for the VEs. I personally would like one that is easily adjusted. I hear MSD ignitions have the option of rev limiting. I have not looked much into it yet though.

I use a Dyna DRL-400. Works great. It's a very "soft" limit and it cuts spark one at a time until the revs stop rising. It's a two step for a bike - designed to set a lauch and an over-rev, but the RPM ranges are such that the "launch" setting works well for our over-rev.

Here's one on Ebay. I've gotten them on Ebay for under $100.

Only thing is if you run a cat and constantly hit the limiter, you may melt it as you'll dump fuel into it unburned.

Don't mean to thread jack, but how does the stock rev limit work?

Is it worth it to upgrade to an after market rev limiter even if you don't plan on revving past 7800? Or just hit the stock one?

Again, sorry for the jack, and thanks.

Not sure in what way the stock one truely works but I know that it is controled by the ECU. I have a calum ECU with my revlimiter removed because I plan to eventually be running N1s. They rev much higher. The stock revlimiter would have created problems for performance. I say stock rev limit is fine if you dont plan to mod but who here does not plan to mod. Not to many.

my issue is that my n1's want to make power past the 8k rev limit my calum ecu is capable of, and i'm pretty sure the limiter is a fuel cut. when my car gets up and goes it hits that 8k really hard to the point that it feels like something really wrong is happening to the motor. i was looking at this rev limiter because its a spark cut, but that one with launch control looks to be interesting as well. and i know my car wants to keep making power but it runs in to that wall and its clearly apparent on my dyno graph as well. The pertronics unit looks easy to adjust with its dials, the msd you would need to use their "Pills" , looks more involved of an install, and is more expensive.

The stock limiter is a fuel cut, and a hard one at that!! I don't like the way it hits but it's cat friendly.

The DRL is nice in that it's a very soft hit, and with no cat I'd say it's fine to motor all day leaning on the limiter. Just be prepared for fireballs!

Again, the launch control isn't useable on the DRL, but it's cheap. If you DO want to use launch control, you'd have to get two of them, but that's probably cheaper than the cheapest MSD setup to do the same thing.

I'm not sure about it, but the rev limiter is an "advance cut" type...
