I am getting ready to install a VDO oil pressure gauge in my VE. I have purchased the VDO sending unit with 2 wires -- one for the gauge and one for a warning light. I have a couple of questions that should be easy to answer for you guys who have done this:
1. I want to drive the OEM oil pressure warning light with the VDO sending unit. So I'm guessing that I just attach the original wire that went to the Nissan sending unit to the proper terminal on the VDO sending unit. Correct?
2. If the answer to #1 is "yes," I no longer need the OEM sending unit. Correct?
3. If the answers to #1 and #2 are "yes," the VDO sender will not screw into the original location of the Nissan sender because the threads are different, correct?
4. So, I either need to mount the VDO sender on a side location of the Nissport adaptor that I have (which creates a structural weakness possibly resulting in failure), or I use the Nissport adaptor to source a line to the VDO sender that would be mounted somewhere else. (e.g., firewall or back of intake manifold). Sound right?
Thanks for your input. Once I get started on this, I want to have a good plan and all the pieces I need.

I would get a line to remote mount the VDO sender. I have one that I'm not using anymore, if you are interested in buying it. I think it has all the right adapters.
